Setup and Assembly
Follow these steps for proper assembly of your Honey-Can-Do Steel Wire Shelf. For a visual guide, please refer to the assembly video below.
- Unpack and Sort: Remove all product contents from the box and group all like parts together.
- Assemble Lower Bars: Identify the lower bars, which have small threaded holes on one end for the leveler feet and larger threaded holes on the other for coupler bushings. Screw the leveler feet into one end and the coupler bushings into the other.
- Attach Upper Bars: Locate the upper bars, which have black caps on top. Attach them to the lower bars by screwing them into the coupler bushings.
- Attach Shelf Support Clips: Find the plastic shelf support clips. Note that the clips have ridges inside, indicating the top. These ridges fit into the grooves on the poles. Snap two halves of a clip together around each pole at the desired height for your lowest shelf. Ensure they form a cone shape, which will support the corners of the shelves. Repeat for all four poles.
- Install Bottom Shelf: Thread the poles through each corner of the bottom shelf. Stand the unit upright and firmly seat the shelf securely onto the support clips using your body weight.
- Install Additional Shelves: Add four more shelf support clips at the desired height for the next shelf. Lower the second shelf into place and seat it securely. Continue adding shelves in the same manner until all shelves are installed.
Operating Instructions
This steel wire shelf is designed for versatile storage. Ensure the shelf is placed on a level surface to maintain stability. The shelf supports up to 250 pounds when weight is distributed evenly across its surface. Avoid concentrating heavy loads in one small area. The adjustable nature of the shelving system allows you to customize shelf heights to accommodate various items.
Maintenance
To maintain the appearance and longevity of your steel wire shelf, wipe it with a dry cloth as needed. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, which may damage the finish. Regularly check all connections to ensure they remain secure.
Troubleshooting
- Shelf is unstable: Ensure all poles are fully screwed together and leveler feet are adjusted to compensate for uneven floors. Verify that all plastic shelf support clips are correctly snapped into the grooves and the shelves are firmly seated on them.
- Difficulty assembling: Double-check that you are using the correct parts for each step (e.g., lower bars for leveler feet, upper bars for caps). Ensure clips are oriented correctly with ridges facing up and aligned with pole grooves.
- Shelf not holding weight: Confirm that the total weight on the shelf does not exceed the 250-pound capacity. Distribute items evenly across the shelf surface.
