Signworld PFG11
Signworld Cross Base User Manual
Model: PFG11
1. Introduction
The Signworld Cross Base is a versatile steel base designed to support advertising flags, such as tear drop or feather flags, for both indoor and outdoor applications. Its robust construction ensures stability on flat surfaces, and it features a built-in swivel mechanism allowing the flag to rotate freely with the wind, enhancing visibility and reducing stress on the flag pole.
This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Signworld Cross Base.
2. Safety Information
- Always ensure the base is placed on a flat, stable surface to prevent tipping.
- For outdoor use, especially in windy conditions, it is highly recommended to use the Signworld Cross Base with a Water Weight Bag (not included) to provide additional stability and prevent the flag from being blown over.
- Do not use the cross base in extreme weather conditions without proper additional weighting.
- Keep children and pets away from the flag and base during operation to avoid accidents.
- Regularly inspect the base for any signs of wear or damage. Do not use if damaged.
3. Package Contents
Upon opening the package, verify that all components are present and undamaged:
- 1 x Signworld Cross Base (Model: PFG11)
- Note: Water Weight Bag is not included and must be purchased separately for outdoor use.
4. Setup Instructions
Follow these steps to set up your Signworld Cross Base:
Unfold the Base: Carefully unfold the four steel legs of the cross base until they are fully extended. The base should form a stable 'X' shape.

Identify the Pole Receiver: Locate the vertical pole receiver at the center of the cross base. This is where your flag pole will be inserted.

Insert Flag Pole: Insert the bottom end of your flag pole into the pole receiver. Ensure the pole is securely seated. The base is designed to fit poles with an inner diameter of 11/16 inches.
Position the Base: Place the assembled base and flag in your desired location. Ensure the surface is flat and clear of obstructions.
Add Water Weight Bag (Outdoor Use): If using outdoors, especially in areas prone to wind, place a Signworld Water Weight Bag (not included) over the cross base to provide additional stability. This is crucial for preventing the flag from tipping over.
5. Operating Instructions
The Signworld Cross Base is designed for simple operation once set up:
Flag Rotation: The built-in swivel mechanism at the tip of the pole receiver allows the flag pole to rotate freely with the wind. This ensures your flag is always visible and reduces stress on the hardware during breezy conditions.
Indoor Use: For indoor applications, the base provides sufficient stability on its own for most flag types.
Outdoor Use: When used outdoors, always ensure the base is weighted down with a Water Weight Bag (recommended) or other suitable ballast to prevent tipping, especially in windy environments. The base sits approximately 3 inches above the surface.
6. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Signworld Cross Base, follow these maintenance guidelines:
Cleaning: Wipe down the steel components with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. For stubborn marks, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by thorough drying to prevent rust.
Inspection: Periodically inspect all parts of the base for signs of wear, corrosion, or damage. Pay close attention to the swivel mechanism and the joints of the folding legs.
Storage: When not in use, fold the base and store it in a dry place to protect it from the elements, which can prolong its lifespan.
Lubrication: The swivel mechanism is designed for smooth operation. If you notice any stiffness, a small amount of silicone-based lubricant can be applied to the rotating parts.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Base tips over easily (outdoor use) | Insufficient weight; strong winds. | Ensure a Water Weight Bag is used. For very strong winds, consider relocating the flag or temporarily taking it down. |
| Flag pole does not fit into receiver | Incorrect pole diameter. | Verify your flag pole has an inner diameter of 11/16 inches. Do not force the pole. |
| Swivel mechanism is stiff or not rotating freely | Dirt/debris in mechanism; lack of lubrication. | Clean the swivel area. Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the rotating parts. |
| Base appears unstable | Not fully unfolded; uneven surface. | Ensure all four legs are fully extended and locked into position. Place the base on a flat, level surface. |
