Introduction

The Zoo Med AvianSun Deluxe Floor Lamp is designed to provide birds with full spectrum light, including beneficial UVB and UVA, mimicking natural sunlight. This lighting is crucial for avian physical and psychological health. UVB facilitates vitamin D3 synthesis for proper calcium metabolism, essential for growth, strong bones, and egg production. UVA is visible to birds, aiding in recognition of mates, food location, and species identification. Without UVA, birds may experience colorblindness. This floor lamp is fully adjustable and features a built-in reflector for optimal light output. Please note that the light bulb is sold separately.

Setup

Assembly of the AvianSun Deluxe Floor Lamp is required. Follow the instructions provided in the packaging for detailed steps. The lamp features a sturdy base and a metal, adjustable arm for precise positioning. When assembling, ensure the power cord is managed carefully to avoid kinks or damage. Operating Instructions

1. Bulb Installation: Ensure a compatible E26 base bulb (such as the AvianSun 5.0 UVA/UVB bulb) is securely screwed into the lamp head.
2. Power Connection: Plug the lamp's cord into a standard electrical outlet.
3. Power On/Off: Use the push-button switch located on the lamp head to turn the light on or off.
4. Positioning: Adjust the flexible arm to direct the light towards your bird's enclosure or perch area. The adjustable arm allows for optimal light placement.
5. Recommended Usage: For optimal benefits, it is recommended to use the lamp for a consistent duration daily, mimicking natural daylight cycles. Consider using a timer for automated operation.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: Disconnect the lamp from power before cleaning. Wipe the lamp and reflector with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse any part of the lamp in water.
• Bulb Replacement: Replace the bulb as recommended by the bulb manufacturer, typically every 6-12 months, to ensure optimal UV output. Always ensure the lamp is unplugged and the bulb has cooled before attempting replacement.
• Cord Inspection: Periodically inspect the power cord for any signs of wear, fraying, or damage. If damage is observed, discontinue use and contact customer support.
