Setup

Follow these steps to set up your RC-300 Loop Station for the first time.

  1. Power Connection: Connect the included AC adapter to the DC IN jack on the rear panel and then to a standard AC outlet. Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before connecting.
  2. Instrument Connection:
    • For guitar/bass: Connect your instrument to the GUITAR/BASS INPUT (L/MONO, R) jacks using 1/4-inch cables.
    • For microphone: Connect a microphone to the MIC INPUT (XLR) jack. If using a condenser microphone requiring phantom power, ensure the PHANTOM switch is set to ON.
    • For other audio devices: Connect external audio players (e.g., MP3 player) to the AUX IN jack using a stereo mini cable.
  3. Output Connection: Connect the MAIN OUTPUT (L/MONO, R) jacks to your amplifier, mixer, or audio interface using 1/4-inch cables. You can also use the SUB OUTPUT (L/MONO, R) for a separate signal path.
  4. Headphones: Connect headphones to the PHONES jack for monitoring.
  5. External Control (Optional): If using external footswitches (e.g., BOSS FS-5U, FS-6) or expression pedals, connect them to the CTL 1,2 / EXP 1 or CTL 3,4 / EXP 2 jacks.
  6. Power On: Once all connections are secure, turn on the power switch.

Operating Instructions

The RC-300 allows for intuitive loop creation and manipulation. Here are basic operating procedures.

Basic Looping:

  1. Select a Track: The RC-300 has three stereo tracks (TRACK 1, TRACK 2, TRACK 3). Use the dedicated footswitches for each track.
  2. Record: Press the [REC/PLAY] footswitch for the desired track to start recording. The LED will turn red.
  3. Play: Press the [REC/PLAY] footswitch again to stop recording and start playback. The LED will turn green.
  4. Overdub: While a loop is playing, press the [REC/PLAY] footswitch to enter overdub mode. The LED will turn orange. Play new material, and it will be added to the existing loop. Press [REC/PLAY] again to exit overdub and return to playback.
  5. Stop: Press the [STOP] footswitch for a track to stop its playback. Pressing [ALL START/STOP] will stop all tracks simultaneously.
  6. Undo/Redo: Press and hold the [UNDO/REDO] button to undo the last recording or overdub. Press and hold again to redo.

Using Rhythm Guide:

  • Press the [RHYTHM] button to activate the built-in rhythm guide.
  • Use the [RHYTHM TYPE] knob to select different rhythm patterns.
  • Adjust the rhythm volume using the [RHYTHM LEVEL] knob.
  • The rhythm guide helps maintain timing during recording and playback.

Saving Phrases:

The RC-300 can store up to 99 phrases. To save your current loops:

  1. Press the [WRITE] button.
  2. Use the [VALUE] knob to select a phrase memory number (1-99).
  3. Press [WRITE] again to confirm and save.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your RC-300 Loop Station.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the unit. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and then wipe dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, disconnect the power adapter and store the unit in a clean, dry place away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the official BOSS website for any available firmware updates to ensure your unit has the latest features and bug fixes.
