4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Mounting

The relay is designed for mounting on a standard 35mm DIN rail. Simply clip the relay onto the rail until it locks securely into place.

4.2 Wiring Connections

Refer to the terminal markings on the front of the relay (Figure 2) for correct wiring. Ensure all connections are tight and secure.

  • A1, A2: Control Supply Voltage (24Vdc or 24-240Vac, 50/60Hz). Connect the power supply to these terminals. A1 is typically for phase/positive, A2 for neutral/negative.
  • 15: Common Contact. This is the common terminal for the relay's output contacts.
  • 16: Normally Closed (NC) Contact. This contact is closed when the relay is de-energized and opens when the relay is energized (after the delay).
  • 18: Normally Open (NO) Contact. This contact is open when the relay is de-energized and closes when the relay is energized (after the delay).
  • Y1: Start/Reset Input (if applicable for the specific function mode). Consult the product datasheet for detailed function mode wiring.

Important: Always verify the wiring diagram printed on the side of the relay or in the official datasheet for the exact function and terminal assignments.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Setting the Delay Time

The delay time is set using the two dials on the front panel (Figure 2):

  • Outer Blue Dial: This dial sets the multiplier value (e.g., 1 to 10) within the selected time range.
  • Inner White Dial: This dial selects the timing range (e.g., 0.1-1s, 1-10s, 1-10min, 1-10h, 10-100h). Rotate it to align the desired range with the indicator mark.

For example, to set a 5-second delay, select the '1-10s' range with the inner white dial, then set the outer blue dial to '5'.

5.2 Operation

Once power is applied to terminals A1 and A2, the relay will begin its timing sequence according to the selected function (e.g., On-Delay). After the set delay period, the output contacts (15-18 and 15-16) will change state. The specific behavior depends on the relay's configured function mode, which is typically indicated on the product label or datasheet.

6. Maintenance

The Crouzet 88 826 135 Delay Relay is designed for reliable, long-term operation with minimal maintenance.

  • Keep the relay clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Periodically inspect wiring connections to ensure they remain tight and free from corrosion.
  • Check for any signs of physical damage or overheating.

Do not attempt to open or repair the relay. Refer servicing to qualified personnel.

7. Troubleshooting

If the relay does not function as expected, consider the following:

  • No Power Indication: Check the control supply voltage at terminals A1 and A2. Ensure the voltage is within the specified range (24Vdc, 24-240Vac).
  • Incorrect Delay Time: Verify that both the inner range dial and the outer multiplier dial are set correctly for the desired delay.
  • No Output Change: Check the wiring to the load connected to terminals 15, 16, and 18. Ensure the load is functioning correctly and its current draw does not exceed 8A. Confirm the relay's function mode is appropriate for the application.
  • Intermittent Operation: Inspect all wiring connections for looseness or damage. Check for stable power supply.

If issues persist, contact technical support.
