3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection
- Carefully remove the safe from its packaging.
- Inspect the safe for any signs of damage during transit. Report any damage to the retailer immediately.
- Locate the owner's instruction manual, bolt-down hardware, and any included keys.
3.2 Battery Installation
The digital keypad requires four high-quality, name-branded, alkaline AAA batteries. Ensure the batteries have an expiration date 8-10 years from the current year for optimal performance.
- Locate the battery compartment on the keypad.
- Open the compartment and insert the four AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment securely.
3.3 Securing the Safe (Optional)
A bolt-down kit is included to secure the safe to the floor, preventing unauthorized removal. This is highly recommended for enhanced security.
- Choose a suitable location for the safe, preferably on a solid surface.
- Using the provided hardware, follow the instructions in the bolt-down kit to secure the safe to the floor.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Opening the Safe for the First Time
Your safe arrives with a factory-set master code. Refer to the owner's instruction manual for this code. The key is not an override but works in conjunction with the digital lock.
- Insert the key into the secondary lock and turn it to the unlocked position.
- Enter the factory master code on the digital keypad.
- Turn the handle to open the safe door.
4.2 Setting Your Personal Combination
You can program your own personal combination (user code) and an additional secondary code.
- With the safe door open, press the PROGRAM button located on the inside of the door.
- Enter your desired 4-8 digit personal combination.
- Press the # button to confirm.
- Test your new combination with the door open before closing it.
4.3 Locking the Safe
- Close the safe door firmly.
- Turn the handle to the locked position.
- Turn the secondary key to the locked position (if desired for added security).
4.4 Using the Interior Light
