1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective use of your Omron HBF-214 Body Composition Meter. 2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the body composition meter from its packaging. Ensure all components are present and undamaged. Dispose of packaging materials responsibly.

2.2 Battery Installation

The Omron HBF-214 requires four (4) AAA batteries. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the device. Insert the batteries according to the polarity indicators (+/-). Close the battery compartment securely.

2.3 Device Placement

For accurate measurements, place the body composition meter on a hard, flat, and stable surface. Avoid placing the device on soft surfaces such as carpets, rugs, or tatami mats, as this can affect measurement accuracy.

2.4 Initial User Registration

Upon first use or after battery replacement, you will need to register user profiles. The device supports up to four user profiles. Follow the on-screen prompts to enter personal data such as age, height, and gender. Please note that the device display may be in Japanese. 3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Taking a Measurement

  1. Power On: Gently step onto the device. It will automatically power on.
  2. User Selection: If multiple users are registered, the device may attempt to auto-recognize you. If not, use the arrow buttons (▲ / ▼) to select your user profile. Press the 'SET' or 'OK' button (often represented by a circle icon) to confirm.
  3. Stand Still: Stand still with bare feet on the metal electrodes. Ensure your feet are clean and dry for proper contact.
  4. Measurement Process: The device will begin measuring. Remain still until all measurements are displayed.
  5. Power Off: The device will automatically power off after a period of inactivity.

3.2 Understanding Display Readings

The Omron HBF-214 provides various body composition metrics. The display may show icons or abbreviations. Below are common measurements:

  • Weight: Your current body weight (e.g., 52.3 kg).
  • Body Fat Percentage: The proportion of fat in your body.
  • Skeletal Muscle Percentage: The percentage of skeletal muscle in your body.

  • Visceral Fat Level: An estimation of fat surrounding your internal organs.
  • Body Age: An estimation of your body's physiological age.
  • Basal Metabolism: The minimum amount of energy required to maintain basic bodily functions at rest.

3.3 Comparing Measurements

The device can display previous measurement values, allowing you to track changes over time. Use the 'Previous Value' button (often labeled with an icon like '前回値' or a left arrow) to review past data. This feature helps in monitoring progress effectively.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning
