1. Introduction

The Creative ZiiSound D3x is a versatile Bluetooth wireless speaker designed to deliver exceptional audio quality. It offers the flexibility to expand into a multi-speaker system, providing a rich sound experience for music, games, and movies. With its sleek design and wireless capabilities, it seamlessly integrates into any living space.

2. Setup

2.1 Powering On

Connect the universal AC adapter to the speaker's power input and then to a wall outlet. The speaker will enter standby mode.

2.2 Initial Bluetooth Pairing (Single Speaker)

1. Ensure your Creative D3x speaker is powered on.
2. Press and hold the 'Connect' button on the speaker for approximately 5 seconds until the pairing light begins to blink rapidly. This indicates the speaker is in pairing mode.
3. On your iPhone (or other Bluetooth-enabled device), navigate to 'Settings'.
4. Tap on 'General', then 'Bluetooth'.
5. Toggle Bluetooth to 'ON'. Your device will search for available Bluetooth devices.
6. Select 'Creative D3x' from the list of found devices.
7. Once selected, the speaker will connect, and the pairing light will become solid.

Your device is now paired. From now on, whenever you turn on the speaker and Bluetooth on your device, they will automatically pair.

2.3 Expanding Your System (Multi-Speaker Linking)

The ZiiSound D3x allows you to link multiple speakers for a wider soundstage or multi-channel audio. You can connect up to three D3x speakers and an optional ZiiSound DSx wireless subwoofer.

1. Place your D3x speakers and DSx subwoofer (if applicable) in their desired listening positions. Ensure all units are plugged in and in standby mode.
2. Identify your 'master' speaker. This will typically be the right-hand speaker in a stereo setup.
3. On the master speaker, press and hold the 'Link' button for approximately 5 seconds until the three small LCR (Left, Center, Right) lights begin to flash. This indicates the master speaker is ready to link with other units.
4. Within 30 seconds, go to your other D3x speakers and press their 'Link' buttons. The corresponding L or C light will illuminate, indicating successful linking.
5. For the ZiiSound DSx subwoofer, press and hold its 'Link' button until its indicator light flashes and then becomes solid, confirming connection to the master speaker.
6. Once all desired speakers and the subwoofer are linked, press the 'Link' button on the master speaker again to complete the linking process.

The system is now configured. You can then pair your Bluetooth-enabled music player to the master speaker as described in Section 2.2.

3. Operating the Speaker

3.1 Bluetooth Audio Streaming

Once paired, audio from your Bluetooth-enabled device will automatically stream to the ZiiSound D3x speaker. Use your device's volume controls to adjust the playback volume. The speaker also features integrated volume controls (+/-) on its top panel.

3.2 Multi-Speaker Modes (for linked systems)

For systems with multiple linked speakers, the ZiiSound D3x offers different audio modes:

• Party Mode: All linked D3x speakers will play the same synchronized music, ideal for distributing sound across a larger area or multiple rooms.
• Multi-channel Mode: This mode expands the soundscape, providing a more immersive audio experience, particularly for movies, by assigning specific audio channels (Left, Center, Right) to individual speakers.

3.3 AUX-in Connection

For devices without Bluetooth capabilities, the ZiiSound D3x features an integrated AUX-in port. Connect your audio source (e.g., MP3 player) using a standard 3.5mm audio cable. The speaker will automatically switch to AUX-in mode when a connection is detected.

4. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Creative ZiiSound D3x speaker, follow these maintenance guidelines:

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the speaker's surfaces. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.
• Placement: Place the speaker on a stable, flat surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
• Power: Always use the provided universal AC adapter. Unplug the speaker during lightning storms or when unused for extended periods.
• Handling: Avoid dropping or subjecting the speaker to strong impacts.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ZiiSound D3x speaker, try the following solutions:

• No Power: Ensure the AC adapter is securely connected to both the speaker and a working power outlet.
• Cannot Pair via Bluetooth:
  • Ensure the speaker is in pairing mode (blinking light).
  • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your source device and it's discoverable.
  • Move the speaker closer to your device.
  • Turn off and on both the speaker and your device's Bluetooth.
  • Clear previous pairings on your device and try pairing again.
• No Sound:
  • Check the volume levels on both the speaker and your source device.
  • Ensure the correct input source is selected (Bluetooth or AUX-in).
  • If using AUX-in, ensure the cable is fully inserted and not damaged.
  • If in a multi-speaker setup, ensure all speakers are properly linked and the master speaker is paired to your device.
• Intermittent Audio/Connection Drops:
  • Reduce the distance between the speaker and your Bluetooth device.
  • Remove any obstacles (walls, large furniture) that may be blocking the signal.
  • Avoid interference from other wireless devices (Wi-Fi routers, cordless phones).
• Speaker Not Responding:
  • Unplug the power adapter from the speaker, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in to perform a soft reset.
  • If the unit is unresponsive with flashing lights, a hard reset may be needed. For D3x speakers, turn off the power and then hold the power button for 10-15 seconds until all LED indicators flash and turn off. This will erase memory and require re-linking.
