Setup and First Use

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the coffee maker for any damage.
2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the carafe, filter basket, and lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
3. Positioning: Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface, away from the edge of the counter.
4. First Brew Cycle (Cleaning):
   • Fill the water tank with cold water up to the 12-cup mark.
   • Place an empty filter (paper or permanent) into the filter basket.
   • Close the lid and place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
   • Press the ON/OFF button to start a brew cycle without coffee.
   • Once the cycle is complete, discard the water from the carafe. Repeat this process once or twice to ensure the system is clean.

Operating Instructions

1. Fill Water Tank:

   Remove the water tank from the unit or open the top lid. Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water to your desired level using the cup markings. Ensure at least 6 cups of water are added for the unit's light to activate. Replace the water tank or close the lid securely.

2. Prepare Filter Basket:

   Press the button to swing out the filter basket. Insert a cone-shaped #4 paper filter or a permanent gold-tone filter into the basket.

3. Add Coffee Grounds:

   Add the desired amount of fresh ground coffee to the filter. A general guideline is one tablespoon of coffee per cup, but adjust to your personal preference. Close the filter basket compartment.

4. Place Carafe:

   Ensure the empty glass carafe is properly placed on the warming plate.

5. Start Brewing:

   Press the ON/OFF button to begin the brewing cycle. The indicator light will illuminate.

6. Pause & Serve:

   You can temporarily remove the carafe during brewing to pour a cup. The flow of coffee will pause. Return the carafe to the warming plate within 20 seconds to prevent overflow.

7. Automatic Shut-off:

   The coffee maker will automatically shut off approximately 2 hours after the brewing cycle is complete. The warming plate will also turn off.

8. Adjustable Warming Plate Temperature:

   The warming plate temperature can be adjusted. Refer to the control panel for specific settings (e.g., "WARM" indicator with bars). Press the SET button to cycle through warming plate temperature options.

Care and Maintenance

Daily Cleaning:

• Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning and allow it to cool completely.
• Wash the carafe, carafe lid, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are generally top-rack dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended for longevity.
• Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
• Do not immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.

Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal):

Mineral deposits (calcium/lime) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your coffee maker regularly, especially if you have hard water. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage, but typically every 2-4 weeks.

1. Prepare a descaling solution: Mix 2-4 tablespoons of white vinegar with water, or use a commercial descaling agent according to its instructions.
2. Pour the solution into the water tank.
3. Place an empty filter in the filter basket and the empty carafe on the warming plate.
4. Run a full brew cycle.
5. After the cycle, let the coffee maker cool for 15 minutes.
6. Discard the solution from the carafe and rinse it thoroughly.
7. Run 2-3 cycles with fresh, cold water only to rinse out any remaining descaling solution.
