4. Product Overview
4.1 Front Panel LEDs
The front panel of the Zoom 5350 features several LED indicators that provide status information:
- Power: Solid green when the device is powered on.
- Downstream: Solid green when connected to the internet, blinking green during connection.
- Upstream: Solid green when connected to the internet, blinking green during connection.
- Online: Solid green when the device is online and ready for use.
- 2.4 GHz Wireless: Solid green when the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is active. Blinking indicates data transfer.
- 5 GHz Wireless: Solid green when the 5 GHz Wi-Fi is active. Blinking indicates data transfer.

4.2 Rear Panel Ports

5. Setup
Follow these steps to install your Zoom 5350 Cable Modem/Router:
- Connect the Coaxial Cable: Connect one end of the coaxial cable to the cable wall outlet and the other end to the 'Cable' port on the rear of your Zoom 5350. Ensure the connection is finger-tight.
- Connect Ethernet Devices (Optional): If you plan to use wired connections, connect an Ethernet cable from your computer or other network device to any of the 'Ethernet' ports (GE1-GE4) on the rear panel.
- Connect the Power Adapter: Connect the supplied power adapter to the 'Power' port on the rear of the Zoom 5350 and then plug the adapter into an electrical outlet.
- Power On: The device will automatically power on. Wait for the Power, Downstream, Upstream, and Online LEDs on the front panel to turn solid green. This may take several minutes.
- Activate Your Service: Contact your cable internet service provider (e.g., Comcast, Cox, Time Warner Cable, CableOne) to activate your new modem. You will need the MAC address (CM MAC) and Serial Number (S/N) located on the label on the bottom of your device.
- Connect to Wi-Fi (Optional): Once activated, you can connect to the Wi-Fi network using the SSID (network name) and password printed on the label of your Zoom 5350.
6. Operating
6.1 Wi-Fi Connection
To connect a device to your Wi-Fi network:
- On your device (smartphone, tablet, computer), open your Wi-Fi settings.
- Select the network name (SSID) that matches the one printed on your Zoom 5350 label. There might be separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password (Network Key) found on the device label when prompted.
- Once connected, the Wi-Fi LED on the front panel of your Zoom 5350 will be solid green, and blinking will indicate data transfer.
6.2 Accessing Router Settings
To customize your router settings (e.g., change Wi-Fi name/password, configure advanced network settings):
- Open a web browser on a device connected to your Zoom 5350 (either via Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
- In the address bar, type the default IP address (usually
192.168.0.1or192.168.1.1) and press Enter. The exact IP address is typically found on the device label. - Enter the default username and password. These are also usually printed on the device label.
- You will now have access to the router's web interface to manage settings.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Regular Reboot
It is recommended to reboot your modem/router periodically (e.g., once a month) to clear its memory and refresh its connection. To perform a reboot:
- Unplug the power adapter from the back of the Zoom 5350.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds to ensure all residual power is drained.
- Plug the power adapter back into the device and the electrical outlet.
- Wait for the device to fully restart and reconnect to your internet service (all front panel LEDs should be solid green).
7.2 Cleaning
Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays.
8. Troubleshooting
- No Power: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the device and a working electrical outlet. Check the power LED on the front panel.
- No Internet Connection:
- Verify that the coaxial cable is securely connected.
- Check the Downstream, Upstream, and Online LEDs. If they are not solid green, try rebooting the modem (see Section 7.1).
- Contact your internet service provider to confirm service status and modem activation.
- Slow Internet Speed:
- Ensure your device is connected to the appropriate Wi-Fi band (5 GHz generally offers faster speeds over shorter distances).
- Minimize interference by placing the modem away from other electronic devices.
- Reboot the modem/router.
- Consider checking for firmware updates through the router's web interface.
- Wi-Fi Disconnections:
- Move closer to the modem/router to improve signal strength.
- Reboot the modem/router.
- Ensure your Wi-Fi password is correct.
- Forgot Wi-Fi Password or Router Login: Perform a factory reset by pressing and holding the recessed 'Reset' button on the rear panel for 10 seconds with a paperclip. This will revert all settings to their factory defaults, including Wi-Fi name and password (found on the device label).
