1. Introduction
The DigiTech IPB10 is an advanced programmable guitar floor multi-effects pedalboard designed to provide guitarists with extensive control over their sound. It integrates with an Apple iPad (not included) to offer a visual and intuitive interface for creating, editing, and managing a wide array of guitar effects, amplifiers, and cabinets. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your IPB10 unit.
2. Important Safety Information
- Power Supply: Use only the specified power adapter. Using an incorrect adapter can damage the unit and void your warranty.
- Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation around the unit. Do not block ventilation openings.
- Water and Moisture: Do not expose the unit to water, rain, or excessive moisture.
- Servicing: Do not attempt to service the unit yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
- Placement: Place the unit on a stable, level surface to prevent accidental falls.
3. Package Contents
Please check that your package contains the following items:
- DigiTech IPB10 Guitar Floor Multi-Effects Pedalboard
- Power Adapter
- USB Cable (for firmware updates)
- Quick Start Guide (not included in this digital manual)
Note: An Apple iPad is required for full functionality and is not included with the IPB10.
4. Setup
4.1 Physical Connections
- Connect Guitar: Plug your guitar into the GUITAR INPUT jack on the IPB10.
- Connect to Amplifier/Mixer: Connect the OUTPUTS of the IPB10 to your guitar amplifier, mixer, or audio interface. Use appropriate cables (e.g., 1/4-inch instrument cables).
- Connect Power: Plug the supplied power adapter into the POWER INPUT on the IPB10, then into a suitable AC outlet.
- Insert iPad: Carefully place your compatible iPad into the designated dock on the IPB10. Ensure the 30-pin connector aligns correctly.
Important Note: The IPB10 features a 30-pin connector for iPad integration. Newer iPad models with Lightning connectors will require a 30-pin to Lightning adapter. Due to the physical design of the IPB10's dock, some adapters may not fit properly. An extension cable for the Lightning connector might be necessary for newer iPads. The iPad is primarily used for configuration; the IPB10 can operate independently once programmed.
4.2 Software Installation and Firmware Update
- Install iPB-10 App: Download and install the official DigiTech iPB-10 app from the Apple App Store onto your iPad.
- Check for Firmware Updates: Connect the IPB10 to your computer using the supplied USB cable. Visit the DigiTech support website to download the latest firmware update utility and instructions for your IPB10. It is crucial to perform firmware updates as recommended for optimal performance and compatibility.
5. Operating Instructions

Figure 1: Overview of the DigiTech IPB10 Guitar Floor Multi-Effects Pedal. This image displays the entire pedalboard, including the central iPad dock, the five footswitches labeled A through E on the upper row, the five footswitches labeled 1 through 5 on the lower row, the STOMP and AMP toggle switches, the UP and DOWN bank switches, and the integrated expression pedal on the right. The iPad screen shows a graphical representation of various effects pedals.
5.1 Powering On and Initial Use
Once all connections are made and the iPad is docked, power on the IPB10. The iPad app should automatically detect the pedalboard.
5.2 Understanding the Interface
- iPad Display: The iPad serves as the primary visual interface, allowing you to drag and drop effects, adjust parameters, and manage presets.

Figure 2: Detail of the iPad display area on the IPB10. The screen shows a graphical user interface with virtual stompboxes (e.g., Overdrive, Delay, Reverb) arranged in a signal chain, along with controls for amp and cabinet simulation. This is where users interact with the software to design their pedalboards.
- Footswitches (A-E, 1-5): These ten footswitches allow you to activate/deactivate individual effects or recall specific presets. Their function is assigned within the iPB-10 app.

Figure 3: Detail of the lower-left footswitches on the IPB10. This image highlights footswitches A and B from the upper row, and footswitches 1 and 2 from the lower row. Each footswitch has an associated LED indicator. These are used for engaging effects or selecting presets.
- STOMP/AMP Toggle Switches: These dedicated switches allow for quick toggling of stompbox effects and amplifier models.

Figure 4: Detail of the STOMP and AMP toggle switches located on the upper-left side of the IPB10. These switches provide direct control over the stompbox and amplifier sections of the virtual pedalboard.
- UP/DOWN Bank Switches: Use these switches to navigate through different banks of presets.

Figure 5: Detail of the UP and DOWN bank switches on the upper-right side of the IPB10. These switches are used to scroll through different banks of stored presets, allowing access to a wider range of sounds during live performance.
- Expression Pedal: The integrated expression pedal can be assigned to control various effect parameters (e.g., Wah, Volume, Delay feedback) within the iPB-10 app.

5.3 Creating and Editing Pedalboards
The iPB-10 app allows you to design custom pedalboards by dragging and dropping up to 10 different pedals, an amplifier, and a cabinet into your signal chain.
- Select Effects: Browse the library of 87 pedals, 54 amps, and 26 cabinets.
- Arrange Signal Chain: Drag and drop components to arrange them in any desired order.
- Adjust Parameters: Tap on any virtual pedal, amp, or cabinet to access and adjust its parameters (knobs, switches) directly on the iPad screen.
- Assign Footswitches: Assign specific effects or entire pedalboard configurations to the physical footswitches for quick access during performance.
5.4 Saving and Recalling Presets
The IPB10 allows you to save an infinite number of custom pedalboard configurations as presets within the app. 100 of these presets can be made accessible via the footswitches.
- Save Preset: Use the app's interface to save your current pedalboard configuration.
- Recall Preset: Use the UP/DOWN bank switches and the A-E/1-5 footswitches to recall saved presets.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the IPB10. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Software Updates: Regularly check the DigiTech website and the Apple App Store for updates to the IPB10 firmware and the iPB-10 app. Keeping your software updated ensures optimal performance and access to new features or bug fixes.
