Setup
Battery Installation:

- Slide the battery compartment cover open.
- Insert two (2) AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Note: Two AAA batteries are included with your purchase. For optimal performance and extended battery life, alkaline batteries are recommended.
Using the Fold-Out Leg:
The MA1BL features a small fold-out leg on its back. Gently pull this leg out to prop the metronome at an angle, providing a better viewing experience on a flat surface.
Operating Instructions
Powering On/Off:
- To power on, press the POWER button (usually a small yellow button).
- To power off, press and hold the POWER button until the display turns off. The metronome also features an auto power-off function to conserve battery life after a period of inactivity.
Setting the Tempo (BPM):
The tempo can be adjusted using three different methods:
- Full Steps: Use the +/- buttons to increase or decrease the tempo in single-step increments across the full range of 30-252 BPM.
- Pendulum Steps: This mode allows you to adjust the tempo in standard increments, similar to a mechanical metronome. Press the TEMPO/TAP button to cycle through this mode if available, then use +/-.
- Tap Tempo: Press the TEMPO/TAP button in time with the desired rhythm. The metronome will calculate and set the tempo based on your taps.
Beat and Rhythm Settings:
The MA1BL allows you to specify the beat count and rhythm type:
- Beat Count: Use the BEAT/RHYTHM button to select the desired beat count from 1 to 9. The display will show the selected beat count.
- Rhythm Type: Press the BEAT/RHYTHM button repeatedly to cycle through the eight available rhythm patterns: quarter notes, eighth notes, various triplets (straight, with inner beat omitted, with third beat omitted), and sixteenth notes (quadruplets, with middle beats omitted, with third and fourth beats omitted).
Beat-Counting Display:
The display features triangular icons that visually represent the beat. The number of icons indicates the specified beat count. As the metronome plays, the color of the icons changes from left to right, providing a clear visual indication of the current beat within the measure.
Sound Out Mode (Tuner Function):
The Sound Out mode provides a reference pitch for tuning your instrument.
- Press the SOUND/CALIB button to enter Sound Out mode.
- Use the +/- buttons to select a reference pitch from C4 to B4 (a full octave).
- To adjust the A4 reference frequency (calibration), press the SOUND/CALIB button again and use the +/- buttons. The calibration can be set from 410 Hz to 480 Hz in 1 Hz steps.
Headphone Jack and Volume:
Connect standard 3.5mm headphones to the headphone jack for private practice. Adjust the volume using the dedicated volume dial on the side of the unit.
Memory Backup:
The MA1BL automatically saves your last used settings (tempo, beat, rhythm, calibration) even after powering off, ensuring you can quickly resume your practice.
