Setup and Installation

Installation of the CISA electric lock requires careful attention to both mechanical fitting and electrical wiring. It is recommended that installation be performed by a professional.

1. Determine Door Handing

Ensure your door is a right-hand door. This lock is specifically designed for right-hand applications. To determine handing, stand outside the door, facing it. If the hinges are on the right, it is a right-hand door.

2. Mechanical Installation

Mount the lock body to the inside of the door and the strike plate to the door frame. Use the provided mounting screws. Ensure the lock body is aligned correctly with the strike plate for smooth operation. The backset (distance from the door edge to the center of the cylinder) is 60mm.

3. Electrical Connection

The lock operates on 12V AC. Connect the power supply wires to the designated terminals on the lock body. Wiring typically involves running a cable from the power source, across the door gap, to the lock. For a cleaner and more durable installation, consider using a CISA 06510 Current Transfer Unit (not included) to bridge the electrical connection between the door frame and the door itself, minimizing wire flexing.

Important: Ensure the power supply is off before making any electrical connections. Incorrect wiring can damage the lock or pose a safety hazard.

Operating Instructions

The CISA electric lock offers multiple methods for operation:

  1. Key Operation (External): Insert the key into the cylinder from the outside and turn to unlock or lock the door manually.
  2. Electric Release (External/Internal): When power is supplied (e.g., via an intercom system, access control, or push button), the electric mechanism retracts the bolt, allowing the door to be opened. The lock is designed for a positive unlocking action, where the bolt retracts with a distinct sound.
  3. Internal Push Button: On the inside of the lock body, there is a red push button. Pressing this button will retract the bolt, allowing the door to be opened from the inside without electrical power or a key.
  4. Automatic Relocking: When the door closes, the smaller bolt (latch) rides against a roller in the strike case, automatically re-cocking the lock mechanism and engaging the main bolt, securing the door.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your CISA electric lock.

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the lock body and strike plate with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Lubrication: Apply a small amount of graphite-based lubricant to the keyway of the cylinder annually. Do not use oil-based lubricants, as they can attract dust and grime.
  • Check Fasteners: Periodically check all mounting screws for tightness. Tighten if necessary to prevent movement or misalignment.
  • Inspect Wiring: If accessible, inspect electrical wiring for any signs of wear, fraying, or damage. Address any issues promptly.
  • Functionality Test: Regularly test all operating methods (key, electric release, internal button) to ensure smooth and consistent performance.
