Setup and Installation

  1. Connect the Coaxial Cable: Connect one end of the coaxial cable (not included) to the cable wall outlet and the other end to the "RF" port on the back of your D-Link DCM-301 modem. Ensure the connection is tight.
  2. Connect the Ethernet Cable:
    • If connecting to a computer: Connect one end of the provided Ethernet cable to the "LAN" port on the modem and the other end to the Ethernet port on your computer.
    • If connecting to a router (recommended for Wi-Fi): Connect one end of the provided Ethernet cable to the "LAN" port on the modem and the other end to the "WAN" or "Internet" port on your wireless router.
  3. Connect the Power Adapter: Plug the power adapter into the "POWER" port on the modem and then into an electrical outlet.
  4. Power On: Press the "ON/OFF" button on the back of the modem to power it on.
  5. Observe LED Indicators: Allow a few minutes for the modem to power up and establish a connection. The "Power", "DS" (Downstream), "US" (Upstream), and "Online" LEDs on the front panel should eventually turn solid green or blue, indicating a successful connection.
  6. Activate Internet Service: Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to activate your new modem. You will need to provide them with the MAC address of your modem, which is usually found on a sticker on the bottom or back of the device. Your ISP will guide you through the activation process.
