How to Set Up the D-Link DSL-G225 in Bridge Mode
This guide is for the DSL-G225 with firmware version 1.04.
Before proceeding: Temporarily set your computer's IP address to a static IP within the 192.168.1.x range (e.g., 192.168.1.99).
Open your internet browser and navigate to http://192.168.1.1
. Enter the password when prompted. The default password is 'admin'.
There are two methods to set up your modem in Bridge Mode: using the Setup Wizard or Manual Configuration.
Setup using the Setup Wizard
Step 1: After logging in, go to SETUP > Local Network. Un-check the "Enable DHCP Server" option and click Save/Apply.
Step 2: Go to SETUP > Wizard and click the "Setup Wizard" button. Follow the on-screen instructions.
STEP 1: CHANGE DEVICE LOGIN PASSWORD
For network security, D-Link recommends changing the default password. You can click "Skip" to proceed without changing it or "Next" to set a new password.
STEP 2: SET TIME AND DATE
Configure the internal system clock. You can set the time zone and an NTP server for automatic time synchronization. Daylight Saving Time can also be configured.
STEP 3: SETUP INTERNET CONNECTION
Choose your connection type (ADSL or VDSL) and set the Protocol to "Bridge". Select your Country and ISP. If your ISP is not listed, choose "Others".
It is recommended to disable the modem's Wi-Fi in this step or the next.
STEP 4: CONFIGURE WIRELESS NETWORK
Your wireless network is enabled by default. You can disable it by unchecking "Enable Your Wireless Network". You can also set the Wireless Network Name (SSID) and security settings. It is highly recommended to disable the wireless network if you are using a separate router.
STEP 5: SAVE AND COMPLETED
Click "Save/Apply" to finalize the setup. If your internet connection does not work, you can try the Setup Wizard again with alternative settings or use Manual Setup.

Bridge Mode Notes
In Bridge Mode, the DSL-G225 acts as a transparent device. If your Internet provider requires PPPoE authentication or VLAN tagging, you must enable these options on the device connected to the DSL-G225's LAN port.
VDSL Sync Information
After successful VDSL sync, the following details are typically displayed:
- Mode: VDSL2
- Traffic Type: PTM
- Status: Up
- Link Power State: L0
Detailed line statistics for Downstream and Upstream are provided, including SNR Margin, Attenuation, Output Power, Attainable Rate, and various error counts.
IP Configuration Example
When the DSL-G225 is in Bridge Mode, the computer connected to it obtains a public IP address from the ISP. An example command to renew the IP address is shown:
C:\Users\Tech> ipconfig /renew
The output typically shows network adapter details, including IPv4 Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway, which are assigned by the ISP.
