Setup
1. Connecting to Your TV
Use the supplied High Speed HDMI cable to connect the Blu-ray player to your TV. HDMI provides both video and audio signals through a single cable.
- Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT port on the back of the Blu-ray player.
- Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to an HDMI IN port on your TV. Note the HDMI input number (e.g., HDMI 1, HDMI 2) on your TV.
2. Power Connection
- Plug the power cord into the AC IN jack on the back of the Blu-ray player.
- Plug the other end of the power cord into a wall outlet.
3. Initial Setup Wizard (First Use)
The first time you turn on the player, an Initial Setup Wizard will guide you through essential settings.
- Turn on your TV and select the correct HDMI input source.
- Press the POWER button on the Blu-ray player or remote control.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to configure language, network settings (Wi-Fi), video output, and audio output.
4. Network Connection (Wi-Fi)
The BDP-BX58 features built-in Wi-Fi for internet connectivity.
- During the Initial Setup Wizard, select Wireless Setup.
- Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password (security key) using the on-screen keyboard and remote control.
- Confirm the connection.
Operating
1. Basic Disc Playback
- Turn on the Blu-ray player and your TV.
- Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the player or remote to open the disc tray.
- Place a Blu-ray Disc or DVD on the disc tray with the label side facing up.
- Press the OPEN/CLOSE button again to close the tray.
- Playback will usually start automatically. If not, select Play from the disc menu.
2. 3D Blu-ray Playback
To enjoy 3D content, you will need a 3D-compatible TV, 3D glasses, and a 3D Blu-ray Disc.
- Ensure your player is connected to a 3D-compatible TV via HDMI.
- Insert a 3D Blu-ray Disc.
- The player will automatically detect the 3D content. Follow any on-screen prompts from your TV to activate 3D mode.
3. Streaming Online Content
With built-in Wi-Fi, you can access various online streaming services.
- Ensure the player is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi.
- Press the HOME button on the remote control to access the main menu.
- Navigate to the "Video" or "Network" section to find available streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, HuluPlus, Pandora, etc.
- Select the desired app and follow the on-screen instructions to log in or browse content.
4. Using the Media Remote App
Transform your iPhone, iPad, or compatible Android phone into a versatile remote control with the free "Media Remote" app.
- Download the "Media Remote" app from your device's app store.
- Ensure your mobile device and the Blu-ray player are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Launch the app and follow the instructions to pair it with your Blu-ray player.
- The app allows for remote control functions and search capabilities.
5. USB and DLNA Media Playback
You can play videos, photos, and music from a USB storage device or DLNA Certified devices on your home network.
- USB: Insert a USB device into the USB port on the front of the player. Navigate to the "Photo," "Music," or "Video" section from the HOME menu and select "USB."
- DLNA: Ensure your DLNA Certified device (e.g., PC, NAS) is on the same network. From the HOME menu, navigate to the "Network" section and select "DLNA" to browse shared media.
Maintenance
