Cooking Rice
- Measure the desired amount of uncooked rice using the provided measuring cup. NOTE: Always use the included measuring cup for accurate results.
- Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Place the rinsed rice into the non-stick inner pan.
- Add water according to the water level markings inside the inner pan. For example, if you added 3 cups of rice, fill water to the "3" mark for white rice. Adjust water quantity based on desired rice texture.
- Place the inner pan into the main unit, ensuring it sits properly.
- Close the lid securely.
- Plug the retractable power cord into a standard electrical outlet.
- Press the single lever switch down to the "Rice Cooking" position. The "Rice Cooking" indicator light will illuminate.
- Once cooking is complete, the lever switch will automatically flip up, and the "Keep Warm" indicator light will illuminate.
- Allow the rice to steam for an additional 10-15 minutes after cooking is complete for best results.
- Open the lid, fluff the rice with the provided spatula, and serve.
Keep Warm Function
The rice cooker automatically switches to the "Keep Warm" function after cooking is completed. This function maintains the rice at an optimal serving temperature for up to 12 hours. The "Keep Warm" indicator light will be illuminated during this period.
Steaming with the Steam Vent
The removable steam vent allows for easy cleaning and efficient steam release during cooking. This model does not include a dedicated steam basket for simultaneous steaming of other foods, but the steam vent ensures proper cooking of rice.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures the longevity and performance of your rice cooker:
- Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Inner Pan: The non-stick inner pan is easy to clean. Wash with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads, as this can damage the non-stick coating.
- Steam Vent: The steam vent is removable and washable. Detach it from the lid and wash with warm, soapy water.
- Lid and Main Unit: Wipe the exterior of the lid and main unit with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.
- Accessories: Wash the measuring cup and spatula with warm, soapy water.
- Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling and storing.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:
- Rice is too hard/dry: Ensure the correct water-to-rice ratio was used. Allow rice to steam for 10-15 minutes after cooking.
- Rice is too soft/mushy: Reduce the water-to-rice ratio slightly for future batches.
- Rice sticks to the bottom: Ensure the inner pan's non-stick coating is intact and that the rice was properly rinsed.
- Appliance does not turn on: Check if the power cord is securely plugged into both the appliance and the electrical outlet.
