5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

Press the POWER button on the rear of the flash unit to turn it on or off. The ready lamp will illuminate when the flash is charged and ready to fire.

5.2 TTL Flash Technology

The EF-20 utilizes High Precision TTL (Through-The-Lens) flash technology. When mounted on a compatible Fujifilm camera, the flash output is automatically adjusted based on the camera's metering system to achieve optimal exposure.

5.3 Exposure Compensation (EV Adjust)

To adjust the flash exposure compensation, press the EV ADJUST button on the rear of the flash. Each press cycles through available compensation values (-1, -0.5, 0, +0.5, +1 EV). The corresponding indicator lamp will light up. This allows for fine-tuning the flash output relative to the camera's automatic setting.

5.4 Bounce Flash (Multi-Directional)

The flash head can be tilted upwards to bounce light off a ceiling or wall, creating softer, more natural illumination and reducing harsh shadows. The EF-20 features a multi-directional tilting head.

5.5 Automatic Zooming

The EF-20 features automatic zooming, which adjusts the flash coverage to match the focal length of the lens being used, ensuring efficient light distribution.

5.6 Full Manual Control

In addition to TTL, the flash offers full manual control options, allowing users to set the flash output power directly for specific creative effects or challenging lighting conditions. Refer to your camera's manual for specific settings related to external flash control.

5.7 Test/Ready Button

The TEST/READY button serves two functions:

  • When the flash is charged, pressing this button will fire a test flash.
  • The lamp next to this button indicates when the flash is fully charged and ready to fire.
