1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient use, setup, operation, and maintenance of your APS 12225 Stainless Steel Polished Chafing Dish with Temperature Regulator. Please read this manual thoroughly before initial use and retain it for future reference.

The APS 12225 chafing dish is designed for keeping food warm at desired temperatures, suitable for various catering and serving environments. It features a durable stainless steel construction, a deep pan, a lid holder, and an adjustable temperature regulator for precise heat control.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the unit is connected to a grounded 230V power outlet. Do not operate with damaged cords or plugs. Keep the power cord away from hot surfaces and water.
  • Hot Surfaces: The chafing dish and its components will become very hot during operation. Use heat-resistant gloves or handles when moving or adjusting parts. Allow the unit to cool completely before cleaning or storing.
  • Water Level: Always ensure the water pan is filled to the recommended level before turning on the unit. Operating without water can damage the heating element.
  • Placement: Place the chafing dish on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface, away from flammable materials. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
  • Supervision: Do not leave the operating chafing dish unattended. Keep children and pets away from the unit.
  • Intended Use: Use this appliance only for its intended purpose of keeping food warm. Do not use it for cooking or reheating food from cold.
  • Cleaning: Always unplug the unit from the power outlet and allow it to cool down completely before cleaning. Do not immerse the electrical base in water or any other liquid.

4. Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage.
  2. Clean: Before first use, wash the food pan, water pan, and lid with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely. Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a damp cloth.
  3. Placement: Position the stainless steel frame on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface. Ensure it is close enough to a grounded 230V power outlet.
  4. Assemble Water Pan: Place the water pan into the stainless steel frame.
  5. Add Water: Fill the water pan with approximately 1-2 inches of hot water. Using hot water will reduce the initial heating time. Do not overfill.
  6. Place Food Pan: Insert the deep food pan, containing your prepared food, into the water pan.
  7. Attach Lid Holder: If desired, attach the lid holder to the side of the frame for convenient lid placement during serving.
  8. Cover: Place the lid on the food pan.

5. Operation

  1. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a grounded 230V electrical outlet.
  2. Adjust Temperature: Turn the temperature regulator knob to your desired heat setting. The unit has an adjustable thermostatic regulation to maintain food at a safe serving temperature.
  3. Preheating: Allow approximately 15-20 minutes for the water to heat up and the food to reach the desired serving temperature.
  4. Serving: When serving, carefully lift the lid using its handle and place it on the lid holder. Replace the lid promptly after serving to maintain heat.
  5. Monitoring Water Level: Periodically check the water level in the water pan. If it gets low, carefully add more hot water to the water pan to prevent the heating element from running dry.
  6. Shut Down: After use, turn the temperature regulator knob to the "OFF" position and unplug the unit from the power outlet.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your chafing dish.

  1. Cool Down: Always ensure the unit is unplugged and has cooled down completely before attempting any cleaning.
  2. Empty Water: Carefully remove the food pan and then empty the water from the water pan.
  3. Wash Pans and Lid: The food pan, water pan, and lid can be washed with warm soapy water. For stubborn food residues, soak them before washing. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately to prevent water spots.
  4. Clean Exterior: Wipe the stainless steel frame and the electrical base with a damp cloth. For polished stainless steel, use a specialized stainless steel cleaner and polish with a soft, dry cloth to maintain its luster.
  5. Do Not Immerse: Never immerse the electrical base or the entire unit in water or any other liquid.
  6. Storage: Store all components clean and dry in a safe place when not in use.
