Setup

  1. Charging the Battery:

    Insert the battery into the charger and connect the charger to a power outlet. The charging indicator will show the charging status. Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use.

  2. Inserting the Battery and Memory Card:

    Open the battery/card compartment cover. Insert the charged battery with the correct orientation until it locks into place. Insert a compatible SD memory card into the card slot until it clicks. Close the compartment cover securely.

  3. Initial Settings:

    Turn on the camera. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the language, date, time, and time zone. These settings are crucial for proper photo management and GPS functionality.

Operating the Camera

Basic Photography

  • Power On/Off: Press the POWER button to turn the camera on or off.
  • Mode Dial: Rotate the mode dial to select your desired shooting mode (e.g., Intelligent Auto, Program AE, Scene Mode).
  • Zoom: Use the zoom lever around the shutter button to zoom in or out.
  • Focusing: Press the shutter button halfway down to focus. The focus frame will turn green when focus is achieved.
  • Taking a Picture: Press the shutter button fully down to capture the image.

Video Recording

  • To start recording a video, press the dedicated Motion Picture Button.
  • Press the button again to stop recording.
  • The camera supports AVCHD Full HD video recording with Active Mode image stabilization.

GPS Functionality

  • The camera's enhanced GPS function automatically records location information with your photos.
  • Ensure GPS is enabled in the camera settings for this feature to work.
  • Note that GPS reception and place name display may have limitations depending on the environment.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Lens: Use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for camera lenses. Avoid touching the lens directly with your fingers.
