  • Always ensure the battery/card compartment door is securely closed and locked before exposing the camera to water. No yellow indicator should be visible.
  • Avoid opening the compartment in wet or dusty environments.
  • After use in saltwater, rinse the camera thoroughly with fresh water and allow it to dry completely before opening any compartments.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning the Camera

  • Camera Body: Wipe the camera body with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a mild soap solution, then wipe with a clean, damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
  • Lens: Use a lens brush or a blower to remove dust. For smudges, use a lens cleaning cloth and lens cleaning fluid. Do not use abrasive materials.
  • LCD Screen: Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth.

4.2 Battery Care

  • Store batteries in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Avoid exposing batteries to extreme temperatures.
  • Charge the battery fully before extended periods of non-use.

4.3 Waterproof Seal Maintenance

Regularly inspect the rubber seals around the battery/card compartment for any dirt, sand, or damage. Clean the seals with a soft, lint-free cloth. Applying a thin layer of silicone grease or a chap-stick-like substance (as suggested by some users) to the seals can help maintain their integrity and prevent water ingress, especially after prolonged use or exposure to harsh conditions.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Camera Does Not Turn On: Ensure the battery is charged and correctly inserted. Check if the battery compartment door is fully closed and locked.
  • Water Leakage: If water enters the camera, immediately remove the battery and memory card. Allow the camera to dry completely. This issue is often due to improper sealing of the battery/card compartment. Always ensure no yellow indicator is showing on the latch when closed.
  • Blurry Images: Check if the lens is clean. Ensure the camera is focusing correctly by pressing the shutter button halfway before fully pressing it. Use dual image stabilization in low light or when shooting moving subjects.
  • Memory Card Error: Ensure the memory card is inserted correctly. Try formatting the card (this will erase all data) or using a different compatible SD card.
  • Short Battery Life: Ensure the battery is fully charged. Battery performance can decrease in cold environments.
