3. Setup

  1. Unpackaging: Carefully remove the yo-yo from its packaging.
  2. String Adjustment: The yo-yo string should be adjusted to your height. Hold the yo-yo in your hand and let the string hang to the floor. The string should reach your belly button. If it is too long, cut the string approximately 4 inches above your belly button and tie a new slip knot.
  3. Finger Loop: Place the slip knot of the string onto your middle finger.
  4. Battery Activation: The yo-yo comes with pre-installed LR44 batteries. The LED lights activate automatically when the yo-yo spins. No manual activation is required for the lights to function.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Throw and Return

  1. Wind the String: Hold the yo-yo in your dominant hand with the string wound tightly around the axle.
  2. The Throw: With your palm facing up, throw the yo-yo downwards with a firm, straight motion. As it reaches the end of the string, it should spin in place (sleep).
  3. The Return: To make the yo-yo return, give a slight tug upwards on the string. The yo-yo should climb back to your hand.

4.2 Activating LED Lights

The Limelight Yo-Yo features motion-activated LED lights. The lights will automatically illuminate and change colors as the yo-yo spins, creating a light show on a string. The faster the spin, the more vibrant the light display.

4.3 Looping Tricks

The transaxle design of the Limelight Yo-Yo is ideal for looping tricks. This design allows the yo-yo to spin freely at the end of the string, making it easier to perform continuous loops and other dynamic maneuvers.

5. Maintenance

  • String Replacement: Replace the yo-yo string regularly, especially if it shows signs of fraying or wear. A fresh string ensures optimal performance and safety.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the yo-yo body with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and grime. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the yo-yo in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prolong its lifespan.
  • Battery Replacement: The yo-yo uses 4 LR44 batteries. When the lights dim or stop working, replace all four batteries. Carefully open the yo-yo halves to access the battery compartment. Ensure correct polarity when inserting new batteries.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Yo-Yo Not Returning:
    • Check if the string is properly wound.
    • Ensure the string is not tangled around the axle.
    • Practice a firmer, straighter throw.
  • Lights Not Activating:
    • Ensure the yo-yo is spinning fast enough to trigger the motion sensor.
    • Check if the batteries need replacement (refer to Maintenance section).
    • Verify battery polarity if recently replaced.
  • String Fraying:
    • Replace the string immediately to prevent breakage during play.
