Eco-Drive Technology

Your Citizen Eco-Drive watch is powered by light, eliminating the need for battery replacement. It converts any light source (natural or artificial) into electrical energy, which is stored in a rechargeable power cell. This ensures continuous operation and contributes to environmental sustainability.

Setup

Initial Charging

Before initial use, or if the watch has stopped, expose the watch dial to a bright light source for several hours to ensure it is fully charged. The watch will begin operating once sufficient charge is accumulated.

Setting Time and Date

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click position. The second hand will stop.
  2. Rotate the crown to set the hour and minute hands. Ensure the AM/PM is correctly set by observing the date change around midnight.
  3. Push the crown back to the first click position.
  4. Rotate the crown to set the date.
  5. Push the crown back to the normal position against the watch case to start the watch.

Adjusting the Bracelet

The stainless steel bracelet can be adjusted by adding or removing links. This procedure typically requires specialized tools and should be performed by a qualified jeweler or watch technician to prevent damage.

Operating Your Watch

Timekeeping

Once set, your Eco-Drive watch will maintain accurate time as long as it receives sufficient light exposure to keep the power cell charged. The watch features three hands (hour, minute, second) for precise time display.

Date Function

The date display automatically advances once every 24 hours. For months with fewer than 31 days, the date will need to be manually adjusted at the beginning of the following month by pulling the crown to the first click and rotating it to the correct date.

Water Resistance

This watch is water resistant up to 100 meters (WR 100). This means it is suitable for swimming, showering, and snorkeling. It is not recommended for scuba diving or high-impact water sports.

Maintenance

Charging Guidelines

  • To maintain optimal charge, expose your watch to light regularly.
  • Avoid prolonged storage in dark places, as this can deplete the power cell and cause the watch to stop.
  • For a full charge from a completely stopped state, expose the watch to direct sunlight for approximately 11 hours or to a fluorescent lamp (30W, 20cm distance) for about 50 hours.

Cleaning

Wipe the watch case and bracelet with a soft, dry cloth. For water-resistant models, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by drying. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

Storage

When not wearing the watch, store it in a location where it can receive some light to maintain its charge. Avoid extreme temperatures and strong magnetic fields.

Troubleshooting

ProblemSolution
