Naturewater 3/4-inch Single-Stage Water Filter Instruction Manual

Brand: Naturewater | Model: 50849

1. Product Overview

This Naturewater single-stage water filter system is designed for quick and simple treatment of lightly contaminated drinking water. It effectively filters sand, rust, algae, and other suspended particles. The system is supplied with a 5 µm activated carbon block cartridge, which is highly effective in removing impurities while largely preserving the natural mineral content of the water, as it does not utilize RO membranes or ion exchangers. The 10-inch (254 mm) filter cartridges are easily replaceable, allowing for customization with various filtration materials as needed.

  • Reliably removes sand, rust, algae, and suspended particles.
  • Maintains essential natural mineral content.
  • 10-inch (254 mm) filter inserts are replaceable as needed.
  • Features a DN20 (3/4″) connection for water supply networks.

2. Safety Instructions

Please read all safety instructions carefully before installation and operation. Failure to follow these instructions may result in property damage or injury.

  • Always shut off the main water supply before installing or servicing the filter.
  • Release pressure from the system before opening the filter housing.
  • Ensure all connections are properly sealed to prevent leaks.
  • Do not install the filter in direct sunlight or in areas exposed to freezing temperatures.
  • Use only genuine Naturewater replacement cartridges to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

4. Setup and Installation

The Naturewater single-stage filter can be installed under a sink or on a countertop. Ensure you have the necessary tools (e.g., pipe wrench, Teflon tape) before starting.

  1. Prepare the Installation Area: Choose a location that is easily accessible for filter changes and protected from freezing. Ensure there is enough space for the filter housing (dimensions: 13.5L x 13.5W x 33H cm).
  2. Shut Off Water Supply: Turn off the main water supply valve to your home or the specific line where the filter will be installed. Open a nearby faucet to relieve pressure.
  3. Mount the Filter Housing: Use the provided mounting bracket (if applicable) to securely attach the filter housing to a sturdy surface. Ensure the housing is vertical.
  4. Connect Water Lines: Identify the "IN" (inlet) and "OUT" (outlet) ports on the filter head. Apply Teflon tape to the threaded connections of your water lines and connect them to the corresponding ports. The filter uses DN20 (3/4-inch) connections. Tighten connections securely but do not overtighten.
  5. Insert Filter Cartridge: Unscrew the clear housing from the blue filter head using the filter wrench. Remove the protective wrapping from the 5 µm sediment cartridge and carefully insert it into the clear housing. Ensure it is seated correctly.
  6. Reassemble Housing: Screw the clear housing back onto the filter head. Hand-tighten first, then use the filter wrench for a final snug turn. Do not overtighten.
  7. Restore Water Supply and Check for Leaks: Slowly turn on the main water supply. Check all connections for leaks. If leaks occur, tighten the connections slightly.
  8. Flush the System: Open a filtered water faucet and let the water run for 5-10 minutes to flush out any air and fine carbon particles. The water may appear cloudy initially; this is normal.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed and flushed, the Naturewater single-stage filter operates automatically. Water flows through the filter, and impurities are removed by the cartridge.

  • The filter is designed for continuous use with potable water.
  • No special adjustments are required during normal operation.
  • The clear housing allows for visual inspection of the filter cartridge's condition.

6. Maintenance

Regular filter cartridge replacement is crucial for maintaining water quality and system performance.

6.1 Filter Cartridge Replacement

The 10-inch (254 mm) filter cartridge should be replaced every 3-6 months, or sooner if you notice a significant drop in water pressure or taste/odor issues. Replacement frequency depends on water quality and usage.

  1. Shut Off Water Supply: Turn off the main water supply valve to the filter.
  2. Relieve Pressure: Press the red pressure release button on top of the filter head (if present) to release trapped air and water pressure.
  3. Unscrew Housing: Place a bucket underneath the filter to catch any dripping water. Use the filter wrench to unscrew the clear housing.
  4. Remove Old Cartridge: Carefully remove the old filter cartridge and dispose of it properly.
  5. Clean Housing: Clean the inside of the clear housing with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Inspect the O-ring for any damage; replace if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring with food-grade silicone grease if it appears dry.
  6. Insert New Cartridge: Remove the protective wrapping from the new 10-inch (254 mm) filter cartridge and insert it into the housing, ensuring it is properly seated.
  7. Reassemble Housing: Screw the clear housing back onto the filter head. Hand-tighten, then use the filter wrench for a final snug turn.
  8. Restore Water Supply and Flush: Slowly turn on the water supply. Check for leaks. Flush the system by running water for 5-10 minutes to remove air and fine particles from the new cartridge.
