Introduction
The Mohawk Home Rug Gripper Tape is designed to secure area rugs and mats on various floor surfaces, preventing movement, bunching, and slipping. It also contributes to easier vacuuming and extends the life of your rugs by reducing wear and tear.
Safety Guidelines
- Ensure the floor surface is clean and dry before application to maximize adhesion and prevent slipping.
- Apply the tape evenly to prevent uneven surfaces that could cause tripping.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets during application.
- For indoor use only.
Installation Instructions
- Prepare the Rug and Floor: Ensure both the rug backing and the floor surface are clean, dry, and free of dust or debris.
- Measure and Cut: Unroll the Mohawk Home Rug Gripper Tape. Using scissors, cut strips of the tape to fit the outline of your rug or mat. It is recommended to place strips along all edges or in a grid pattern for larger rugs.
- Apply to Rug: Carefully peel off the adhesive liner from one side of the tape. Press the exposed sticky side firmly onto the back of your rug or mat.
- Position the Rug: Once the tape is applied to the rug, remove the remaining adhesive liner from the other side of the tape. Carefully position the rug on your desired floor surface with the grip side down.
- Secure the Rug: Press down firmly on the rug, especially over the areas where the gripper tape is applied, to ensure good contact with the floor.

Usage
Once installed, the Mohawk Home Rug Gripper Tape will hold your rug securely in place, preventing it from sliding, bunching, or curling. This enhances safety and makes routine tasks like vacuuming more efficient.
Care and Maintenance
- Cleaning: The rug gripper tape itself is not designed for washing. If the rug needs cleaning, it is generally recommended to remove the rug from the floor.
- Reapplication: If the rug is lifted for floor cleaning or repositioning, the tape may lose some adhesion. If the tape detaches from the floor or rug, it may need to be reapplied or replaced to maintain optimal grip.
- Floor Residue: In some cases, the tape may leave a residue on the floor if removed after a long period. This residue can typically be cleaned with appropriate floor cleaning solutions.
Common Issues and Solutions
- Rug is still slipping:
- Ensure the floor and rug backing were completely clean and dry before application.
- Verify that enough gripper tape was applied, covering all edges and potentially the center for larger rugs.
- Check if the tape has lost its stickiness; reapply or replace if necessary.
- Tape not sticking to rug backing:
- Some rug backings (e.g., rubberized) may not adhere as effectively to the tape. Consider using additional strips or an alternative rug pad if issues persist.
- Tape leaving residue on floor:
- This can occur, especially on certain floor types or after prolonged use. Residue can usually be removed with a suitable floor cleaner and gentle scrubbing.
