- Attach Casters to Base: Insert each of the five casters into the holes at the end of each leg of the chair base. Push firmly until they click into place.
- Insert Gas Lift Cylinder: Place the gas lift cylinder into the center hole of the assembled chair base. Ensure it is seated securely.
- Attach Mechanism Plate to Seat: Align the mechanism plate with the pre-drilled holes on the underside of the seat cushion. Ensure the front of the mechanism plate faces the front of the seat. Secure with the provided bolts and Allen wrench.
- Attach Armrests to Seat: Attach the armrests to the sides of the seat cushion using the designated holes and bolts. Do not fully tighten yet.
- Attach Backrest to Seat Assembly: Align the backrest with the mounting points on the mechanism plate and armrests. Secure with bolts. Once all bolts are in place for the backrest and armrests, tighten all fasteners securely.
- Connect Seat Assembly to Gas Lift: Carefully place the assembled seat and backrest onto the gas lift cylinder, ensuring the cylinder's top fits into the mechanism plate's central opening.

Operating Instructions and Adjustments
Your Alera Elusion Series chair offers multiple adjustments for personalized comfort:
- Seat Height Adjustment: To raise the seat, lift the lever on the right side of the chair while taking your weight off the seat. To lower the seat, lift the lever while seated. Release the lever at the desired height.
- Tilt Tension Adjustment: The round knob located under the front of the seat controls the tilt tension. Turn clockwise to increase tension (making it harder to recline) or counter-clockwise to decrease tension (making it easier to recline).
- Tilt Lock Mechanism: The lever on the left side of the chair allows you to lock the backrest in an upright position or allow it to recline freely. Push the lever in to lock, pull out to unlock.
- Back Angle Adjustment: This chair features a multifunction mechanism allowing the back angle to be adjusted relative to the seat. Use the lever on the right side (often the same as height or a separate one depending on model) to adjust the backrest angle.
- Armrest Height and Width Adjustment: The armrests can be adjusted for height by pressing the button on the side of each armrest and moving them up or down. They can also be adjusted for width by loosening the bolts underneath the seat and sliding them in or out.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps prolong the life and performance of your chair:
- Cleaning: For the mesh back and fabric seat, use a mild soap and water solution with a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. For plastic and metal parts, wipe with a damp cloth.
- Inspection: Periodically check all bolts and screws to ensure they are tight. Retighten if necessary.
- Casters: Keep casters free of debris (hair, dust, etc.) to ensure smooth movement. Clean with a small brush or vacuum.
Troubleshooting
Refer to the table below for common issues and their solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Chair does not raise or lower | Gas lift cylinder malfunction or lever not engaged. | Ensure the height adjustment lever is fully engaged. If the problem persists, the gas lift cylinder may need replacement. |
| Chair wobbles or feels unstable | Loose bolts or uneven floor. | Check and tighten all assembly bolts. Ensure the chair is on a flat, even surface. |
| Casters do not roll smoothly | Debris in casters or damaged casters. | Clean any hair or debris from the caster wheels. If damaged, casters may need replacement. |
| Backrest does not recline or lock | Tilt lock engaged or tilt tension too high. | Disengage the tilt lock lever. Adjust the tilt tension knob counter-clockwise to reduce tension. |
