Dwyer Makrk II 25 + A-612
Dwyer Mark II Model 25 Inclined Manometer User Manual
Model: Makrk II 25 + A-612
1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of the Dwyer Mark II Model 25 Inclined Manometer. This instrument is designed for accurate measurement of low pressures, vacuums, or differential pressures.
Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the device to ensure safe and efficient use.

Figure 1: Front view of the Dwyer Mark II Model 25 Inclined Manometer. The image displays the instrument's face with a scale marked in inches of water column, ranging from -0.05 to 3 inches. Key features visible include the "HIGH" and "LOW" pressure ports, a "FILL" port, a "ZERO SET" knob, and the Dwyer Mark II branding. A spirit level is integrated at the bottom right for proper leveling during operation.
2. Safety Information
Always observe the following safety precautions:
- Do not exceed the maximum pressure rating of the instrument.
- Ensure the manometer is level before taking readings.
- Use only the specified manometer fluid.
- Keep the instrument clean and free from debris.
3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove the manometer from its packaging. Inspect the instrument for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. If damage is found, contact your supplier immediately.
3.2 Mounting
The Mark II Model 25 can be mounted on a vertical surface using the provided mounting brackets or placed on a flat, stable surface. Ensure the instrument is securely mounted and level. The integrated spirit level should be centered.
3.3 Filling with Manometer Fluid
- Remove the fill plug located at the top of the manometer.
- Slowly pour the specified Dwyer manometer fluid into the fill port until the fluid level reaches the "0" mark on the scale when the instrument is level and at atmospheric pressure.
- Replace the fill plug securely.
3.4 Zero Adjustment
Before taking any measurements, ensure the manometer is level and the pressure ports are open to atmospheric pressure. Use the "ZERO SET" knob located at the bottom left of the instrument to adjust the fluid level precisely to the "0" mark on the scale.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Connecting to Pressure Source
Connect the pressure source to the appropriate port:
- For positive pressure measurement, connect the pressure source to the "HIGH" port. Leave the "LOW" port open to atmosphere.
- For vacuum measurement, connect the vacuum source to the "LOW" port. Leave the "HIGH" port open to atmosphere.
- For differential pressure measurement, connect the higher pressure to the "HIGH" port and the lower pressure to the "LOW" port.
4.2 Taking Readings
Once connected, the fluid column will move to indicate the pressure. Read the measurement directly from the scale at the top of the fluid column. Ensure your eye is level with the fluid meniscus to avoid parallax error.
The scale is calibrated in inches of water column (WC).
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Wipe the exterior of the manometer with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or the clear viewing tube.
5.2 Fluid Replacement
The manometer fluid should be replaced periodically, or if it appears discolored or contaminated. Refer to the fluid manufacturer's recommendations for replacement intervals. To replace fluid, drain the old fluid, flush the system if necessary, and refill as described in Section 3.3.
5.3 Storage
When not in use, store the manometer in a clean, dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the pressure ports are capped to prevent dust ingress.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Inaccurate readings | Manometer not level; incorrect zero adjustment; contaminated fluid; air bubbles in fluid. | Ensure manometer is level; re-zero the instrument; replace fluid; gently tap the instrument to dislodge bubbles. |
| Fluid level fluctuates excessively | Pressure source instability; leaks in tubing/connections. | Check stability of pressure source; inspect all connections for leaks and tighten as necessary. |
| Fluid does not move | Blocked ports or tubing; no pressure applied. | Check for obstructions in ports and tubing; verify pressure is being applied. |
