2. Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure you have all necessary tools and that your toilet is compatible with the Brondell S1000-RW. This model is designed for Round toilets.

2.1. Determine Correct Fit

It is crucial to verify your toilet's dimensions to ensure a proper fit for the bidet seat. Refer to the diagram below for measurement guidance.

Diagram showing how to measure a toilet for bidet seat compatibility

Figure 1: Toilet Measurement Guide for Round and Elongated Seats. This diagram illustrates how to measure your toilet bowl to determine if it is a round or elongated shape and to ensure sufficient space for the bidet seat installation.

  • A. Center of bolt holes to front of toilet bowl: For a Round seat, this distance should be 16"–17.75" (40.6cm–45.1cm).
  • B. Distance from center of bolt holes to toilet seat tank: Minimum 1.5" (3.81cm). If less, the Swash may extend slightly over the front edge.
  • C. Distance between bolt holes: All models: 5.25"–8" (13.3cm–20.3cm).
  • D. Measure the distance from the front of the toilet tank to the front of the toilet bowl: If this measurement is less than 20 inches, the seat will extend over the front edge of the toilet. Consider purchasing a Round size to reduce the amount the seat extends over the front edge.

2.2. Pre-Installation Steps

  1. Turn off the water supply to your toilet at the shut-off valve.
  2. Flush the toilet to drain the tank.
  3. Disconnect the existing water supply hose from the toilet tank.
  4. Remove your existing toilet seat by unscrewing the mounting bolts.

2.3. Bidet Seat Installation

  1. Install the T-valve (provided) between the toilet tank fill valve and the water supply hose. Ensure all connections are hand-tightened first, then gently snugged with a wrench to prevent leaks.
  2. Attach the mounting plate to the toilet bowl using the provided bolts and washers. Adjust the plate position to align with your toilet bowl.
  3. Slide the Brondell S1000-RW bidet seat onto the mounting plate until it clicks securely into place.
  4. Connect the bidet seat's water supply hose to the T-valve.
  5. Connect the bidet seat to a grounded electrical outlet. The unit includes a 3.5-foot power cord.
  6. Slowly turn on the water supply to the toilet and check for any leaks.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Brondell S1000-RW, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a grounded outlet and that the outlet is receiving power. Check your home's circuit breaker.
  • No Water Spray: Verify that the toilet's water supply valve is fully open and that the T-valve is correctly installed and not obstructed. Ensure the bidet seat is properly seated on the mounting plate.
  • Water Leaks: Check all water connections (T-valve, water supply hose, bidet hose) for tightness. Ensure rubber washers are correctly seated. Do not overtighten.
  • Remote Control Not Responding: Replace the AAA batteries in the remote control. Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the bidet seat's sensor.
