2. Safety Instructions

4. Setup

4.1 Attaching the Auxiliary Handle and Depth Stop

  1. Loosen the auxiliary handle by turning it counter-clockwise.
  2. Slide the auxiliary handle onto the drill collar to the desired position.
  3. Insert the depth stop into the hole on the auxiliary handle.
  4. Tighten the auxiliary handle by turning it clockwise until secure.

4.2 Inserting Drill Bits

  1. Ensure the drill is unplugged from the power source.
  2. Twist the front part of the keyless chuck counter-clockwise to open the jaws.
  3. Insert the drill bit fully into the chuck.
  4. Twist the front part of the keyless chuck clockwise firmly to secure the bit. The Bosch Press+Lock feature allows for easy tool changes by locking the drill spindle with a push of a button.

5. Operating the Drill

The Bosch PSB 650 RE offers versatile operation for various materials.

5.1 Powering On/Off and Speed Control

  • Plug the drill into a suitable 220V power outlet.
  • To start the drill, press the trigger switch. The speed is variable depending on how far you press the trigger.
  • Use the speed preselection wheel to set the maximum desired speed for your application. This allows for material-specific working and precise control, especially when starting to drill on smooth surfaces or driving screws.
  • For continuous operation, press the lock-on button while the trigger is pressed. To release, press the trigger again.
  • To turn off, release the trigger switch.

5.2 Forward/Reverse Operation

The forward/reverse switch is located above the trigger. Push it to the left for forward rotation (drilling/screwdriving) and to the right for reverse rotation (removing screws or freeing jammed bits).

5.3 Selecting Drilling Mode

Use the red selector switch on top of the drill to choose between:

  • Drilling Mode (Drill Bit Symbol): For drilling in wood, metal, plastic, and ceramics.
  • Impact Drilling Mode (Hammer Symbol): For drilling in concrete, masonry, and stone.

5.4 Drilling Applications

  • Drilling in Concrete/Masonry: Use impact drilling mode and appropriate masonry drill bits. The maximum drilling diameter in concrete is 14 mm.
  • Drilling in Steel: Use drilling mode and HSS drill bits. The maximum drilling diameter in steel is 12 mm.
  • Drilling in Wood: Use drilling mode and wood drill bits. The maximum drilling diameter in wood is 30 mm.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your drill.

  • Cleaning: Always unplug the tool before cleaning. Keep the ventilation slots clean to prevent motor overheating. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean dust and debris from the tool. The dust extraction port can be used with an optional accessory for cleaner operation.
