2. Safety Instructions

Please read all safety instructions carefully before using your pressure cooker. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the appliance.

  • Do not overfill: Never fill the pressure cooker beyond the maximum fill line (typically 2/3 full for most foods, 1/2 full for foods that expand, like rice or beans).
  • Check seals: Always ensure the sealing ring and all valves are clean and correctly seated before closing the lid.
  • Secure the lid: Make sure the lid is properly closed and locked before applying heat.
  • Pressure release: Never attempt to open the lid while the cooker is under pressure. Always ensure all pressure has been released before opening.
  • Heat source: Use the pressure cooker only on appropriate heat sources as indicated in the specifications.
  • Handle with care: Hot surfaces can cause burns. Always use oven mitts or handles when moving the hot pressure cooker.
  • Children: Keep the pressure cooker out of reach of children.

  • e-Control Handle: Contains the pressure indicator and cooking level selector.
  • Sealing Ring: Ensures an airtight seal between the lid and the pot body.

4. Setup and First Use

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the pressure cooker for any damage.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the pot body and lid (without the handle) with warm soapy water. The handle should be removed and cleaned by hand. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  3. Assemble: Ensure the sealing ring is correctly placed inside the lid. Attach the e-Control handle securely to the lid if it was removed.
  4. Water Test: For your first use, perform a water test. Fill the pot with 1 liter of water, close the lid, and bring it to pressure on medium heat. Allow it to reach full pressure, then release the pressure according to the operating instructions. This familiarizes you with the cooker's operation and cleans any residual manufacturing oils.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Preparing for Cooking

  1. Place food and liquid into the pot. Ensure the liquid level is sufficient for pressure cooking and does not exceed the maximum fill lines.
  2. Place the lid onto the pot, aligning the markings on the lid and pot handle.
  3. Rotate the lid handle clockwise until it locks securely into place. The pressure indicator should be in the lowest position.

5.2. Selecting Cooking Levels

The e-Control handle features a selector for three cooking levels:

  • Level 1 (Gentle): For delicate foods like fish, vegetables, or fruits.
  • Level 2 (Normal): For most meats, stews, and general cooking.
  • Level 3 (Intense): For foods requiring higher pressure and shorter cooking times.

Turn the cooking level selector on the handle to your desired setting before heating.

5.3. Building and Maintaining Pressure

  1. Place the pressure cooker on a suitable heat source set to high.
  2. Observe the pressure indicator on the handle. As pressure builds, the indicator will rise.
  3. Once the indicator reaches your selected cooking level, reduce the heat to maintain that pressure. The indicator should remain stable at the chosen level.
  4. Begin timing your cooking from this point.

5.4. Releasing Pressure

After cooking, there are two primary methods for releasing pressure:

  • Natural Release: Remove the pressure cooker from the heat source and allow it to cool down naturally. The pressure indicator will gradually drop. This method is suitable for foods that benefit from continued cooking, such as stews or roasts.
  • Quick Release: For foods that require immediate stopping of the cooking process, such as vegetables, carefully turn the cooking level selector to the steam release position. Steam will escape rapidly. Exercise caution as hot steam will be released.

Only open the lid once the pressure indicator has fully dropped and no steam is escaping.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper cleaning and maintenance ensure the longevity and safe operation of your Silit Sicomatic e-Control pressure cooker.

  • Pot Body and Lid: The pot body and lid (without the handle) are dishwasher safe. For best results, hand wash with warm soapy water.
  • e-Control Handle: The handle can be easily removed for cleaning. Wash the handle by hand under running water, ensuring all valves and openings are clear of food debris.
  • Sealing Ring: Remove the sealing ring after each use and wash it with warm soapy water. Inspect it regularly for cracks or damage and replace if necessary.
  • Valves: Ensure all pressure release valves and safety valves are clean and free from blockages. Use a small brush if needed.
  • Storage: Store the pressure cooker with the lid inverted or slightly ajar to allow air circulation and prevent odors.
