4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly install your BELL 5124-0 Switch Cover and switches:

  1. Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker or fuse controlling the electrical box where the switch cover will be installed. Turn off the power completely to prevent electric shock. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
  2. Prepare the Electrical Box: Ensure you are using a compatible BELL Two-Gang electrical box designed for device mounting. The box should be securely installed in the desired location.
  3. Install the Toggle Switches:
    • Connect the electrical wires to the terminals on each 10 Amp toggle switch. Typically, a hot wire connects to one terminal and the load wire to another. A ground wire should be connected to the switch's ground screw (if present) and the electrical box. Refer to local electrical codes for proper wiring configurations.
    • Mount the two toggle switches into the electrical box using the provided mounting screws. Ensure they are oriented correctly for "ON" and "OFF" positions.
  4. Attach the Switch Cover:
    • Align the BELL 5124-0 switch cover over the installed toggle switches and the electrical box. The levers on the cover should fit over the switch toggles.
    • Secure the cover to the electrical box using the provided installation hardware (e.g., screws or rivets). Tighten fasteners until the cover is snug against the box, ensuring a weatherproof seal. Do not overtighten.
  5. Restore Power: Once the cover is securely installed and all connections are verified, restore power at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
  6. Test Operation: Test the functionality of both switches to ensure they operate correctly.

5. Operating Instructions

The BELL 5124-0 Switch Cover is designed for simple operation of standard toggle switches.

  • To turn on the connected device, push the lever on the switch cover upwards.
  • To turn off the connected device, push the lever on the switch cover downwards.

The weatherproof design allows for reliable operation in outdoor conditions.

6. Maintenance

The BELL 5124-0 Switch Cover requires minimal maintenance to ensure long-lasting performance:

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exterior of the cover with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the powder coat finish.
