Setup

1. Unpacking and Placement

Carefully remove the amplifier from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage. Place the amplifier on a stable, level surface, ensuring adequate ventilation around the unit. Avoid placing it near heat sources or in direct sunlight.

2. Power Connection

Ensure the amplifier's power switch is in the OFF position. Connect the supplied power cord to the AC input on the rear panel of the amplifier and then to a grounded AC outlet. Verify that the voltage matches your local power supply.

3. Instrument Connection

Connect your guitar to either the 'NORMAL' input jack or the 'TOP BOOST' input jack on the front panel using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable. The 'TOP BOOST' channel offers additional tone shaping capabilities.

4. Initial Power-Up

  1. Ensure all volume controls on the amplifier are set to their minimum (counter-clockwise) position.
  2. Flip the POWER switch to the ON position. The power indicator light will illuminate.
  3. Wait approximately 30-60 seconds for the tubes to warm up.
  4. Flip the STANDBY switch to the ON position. The amplifier is now ready for use.

  • POWER Switch: Turns the amplifier's main power ON or OFF.
  • STANDBY Switch: Engages or disengages the amplifier's high voltage. Always use the standby switch when taking short breaks or powering on/off.
  • MASTER VOLUME: Controls the overall output volume of the amplifier.
  • TONE CUT: Adjusts the high-frequency response in the power amp section. Turning it clockwise reduces high frequencies.
  • TREMOLO (DEPTH, SPEED): Controls the intensity (Depth) and rate (Speed) of the built-in tremolo effect.
  • REVERB (LEVEL): Adjusts the amount of the built-in spring reverb effect.
  • TOP BOOST (BASS, TREBLE, VOLUME): Controls the volume and tone (Bass, Treble) for the Top Boost channel.
  • NORMAL (VOLUME): Controls the volume for the Normal channel.
  • INPUT JACKS (NORMAL, TOP BOOST): Connect your instrument here.

Using the Channels

The AC15C1 offers two distinct channels. The Normal channel provides a classic, clean VOX tone. The Top Boost channel offers a brighter, more aggressive sound with independent Bass and Treble controls for detailed tone shaping. Experiment with both channels to find your preferred sound.

Effects Loop

The amplifier includes a by-passable effects loop for integrating external effects pedals. Connect your pedals' output to the 'RETURN' jack and their input to the 'SEND' jack on the rear panel. This allows effects to be applied after the preamp section.

External Speaker Outputs

The AC15C1 provides extension and external speaker outputs. Ensure the impedance of any external speaker cabinet matches the amplifier's output impedance settings (8 or 16 ohms) to prevent damage.

Maintenance

General Care

To maintain your amplifier's condition, regularly wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents. Keep the amplifier away from excessive dust, moisture, and extreme temperatures. When transporting, ensure the unit is securely packed to prevent physical damage.

Tube Replacement

The AC15C1 is a tube amplifier, and its tubes (EL84 power tubes and 12AX7 preamp tubes) will eventually require replacement. If you notice a decrease in sound quality, unusual noise, or a loss of power, the tubes may need to be replaced. It is recommended that tube replacement and biasing be performed by a qualified technician. Incorrect handling of tubes can lead to electric shock or damage to the amplifier.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your AC15C1 amplifier, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
