2. Setup

2.1. Battery Installation

The ICD-PX820 operates on two AAA batteries. To install or replace batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the recorder.
  2. Slide the cover in the direction indicated by the "OPEN" arrow to remove it.
  3. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -) as marked inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover until it clicks securely into place.

2.2. Initial Power On

After installing the batteries, the device should power on automatically or by sliding the POWER switch. Follow any on-screen prompts for initial setup, such as setting the date and time.

3.1. Controls and Ports

3.2. Recording Audio

To begin recording:

  1. Ensure the recorder is powered on and not in HOLD mode.
  2. Press the REC/PAUSE button. The recording indicator will illuminate, and the display will show the recording time.
  3. To pause recording, press the REC/PAUSE button again. Press it once more to resume.
  4. To stop recording, press the PLAY/STOP button. The recording will be saved automatically.

The device supports voice-activated recording (VOR) and a Noise Cut Function to enhance clarity. Recordings are saved in MP3 format, which is widely compatible and requires no conversion for use on computers.

3.3. Playing Back Recordings

To listen to a recording:

  1. Navigate to the desired recording using the rewind/fast forward buttons.
  2. Press the PLAY/STOP button to start playback.
  3. Adjust the volume using the VOL +/- buttons on the side.
  4. To stop playback, press the PLAY/STOP button again.

3.4. Transferring Files to a Computer

To transfer recorded files to your PC or Mac:

  1. Connect the recorder to your computer using a USB cable. The USB port is located on the side of the device.
  2. The recorder will appear as a removable drive on your computer.
  3. Drag and drop your MP3 audio files from the recorder's folders to your computer.
  4. Safely eject the device from your computer before disconnecting the USB cable.
