1. Introduction

The APC Smart-UPS 2200VA (SMT2200) is a high-performance Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) designed to provide reliable battery backup and surge protection for critical electronic equipment. 2. Product Overview

The SMT2200 UPS features a 2200VA / 1980W capacity, 8 battery backup and surge protector outlets, and an LCD display for easy monitoring. It incorporates network-grade power supply conditioning to protect against damaging surges and disruptive noise. Solid-state Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) corrects low and high input voltages without relying on battery power, extending battery life.

3. Setup and Installation

Proper setup is crucial for optimal performance and safety. The SMT2200 requires a 20-amp wall plug (NEMA 5-20R outlet) due to its power requirements. Ensure your electrical infrastructure can support this. The unit is heavy (112 pounds), so plan for appropriate handling during installation.

3.1 Initial Placement

3.2 Battery Connection

• Connect the UPS power cord to a dedicated 20-amp, 120V outlet.
• Connect your equipment (servers, network devices, etc.) to the 8 battery backup and surge protector outlets on the rear of the UPS.

The SMT2200 supports APC SmartConnect for cloud-enabled UPS monitoring and management. Connect the UPS to your network using the dedicated Ethernet port on the rear panel.

To set up SmartConnect:

1. Connect the UPS to your network via the dedicated Ethernet port.
2. Scan the QR code on the UPS (or use the product ID/key) to register your device with the SmartConnect web portal.
3. Create an account on the SmartConnect portal if you don't have one.
4. Once registered, you can view UPS status, receive lifecycle notifications, simplify firmware updates, and access support from any internet-connected device.

4. Operating the UPS

4.1 Powering On/Off

• To power on the UPS, press and hold the power button on the front panel until the display illuminates.
• To power off, press and hold the power button again until the display turns off.

4.2 LCD Display and Navigation

The intuitive LCD display provides real-time status information, including battery charge, load level, estimated runtime, input/output voltage, and frequency. Use the navigation buttons to scroll through different parameters and access settings.

4.3 Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)

The UPS automatically adjusts for minor voltage fluctuations (brownouts and overvoltages) without switching to battery power. This feature protects connected equipment and extends battery life.

4.4 Battery Backup Operation

In the event of a power outage, the UPS will automatically switch to battery power, providing continuous power to connected devices. The runtime depends on the connected load. The SMT2200 provides approximately 15 minutes of runtime with a 900-watt load.
