4. Setup and Installation
Installation requires a ½” IPS connection. Follow these steps for proper installation:
- Prepare the Shower Arm: Ensure the existing shower arm is clean and free of debris. Apply plumber's tape to the threads of the shower arm.
- Attach the Mounting Bracket: Screw the mounting bracket onto the shower arm. Hand-tighten, then use a wrench to tighten an additional ¼ to ½ turn. Do not overtighten.
- Connect the Hose: Attach one end of the kink-free metal hose to the handshower and the other end to the designated port on the mounting bracket. Ensure washers are in place and hand-tighten.
- Install the Rainshower Head: Screw the 9-inch rainshower head onto the remaining threaded connection on the mounting bracket. Hand-tighten.
- Place the Handshower: Insert the handshower into its holder on the mounting bracket.
- Test for Leaks: Turn on the main water supply and check all connections for leaks. Tighten any leaking connections slightly until leaks stop.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning
To maintain the appearance and performance of your Moen Refresh shower system:
- Regular Cleaning: Clean the chrome finish regularly with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn spots, use a mild soap and water solution. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.
- Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Do not use abrasive cleaners, ammonia-based products, or cleaners containing bleach, as these can damage the finish and internal components.
- Nozzle Cleaning: The spray nozzles are designed for easy cleaning. If mineral deposits accumulate, gently rub the rubber nozzles with your finger or a soft brush to dislodge them.
- Hose Care: Periodically check the handshower hose for kinks or damage. The kink-free design helps prevent common hose issues.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Low Water Pressure | Mineral buildup in nozzles; partially closed water valve; flow restrictor. | Clean nozzles (see Maintenance); ensure water supply is fully open; check for and remove flow restrictor if permitted by local codes. |
| Leaking Connections | Loose connections; worn washers; insufficient plumber's tape. | Tighten connections (do not overtighten); replace washers; reapply plumber's tape. |
| Diverter Not Switching Properly | Mineral buildup in diverter mechanism. | Flush the system by running hot water through both outlets; if problem persists, professional service may be required. |
