Setup and Installation
Tools Required: Screwdriver, Wire Strippers, Pliers, Electrical Tape, Ladder.
- Turn Off Power: Before starting, ensure the power supply to the junction box is turned off at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
- Prepare Mounting: Attach the mounting bracket to the junction box in the ceiling. Ensure it is securely fastened.
- Adjust Chain Length: Determine the desired hanging height for your chandelier. Use pliers to open and remove chain links as necessary from the 54-inch chain provided.
- Connect Wiring:
- Connect the bare copper ground wire from the fixture to the ground wire from the junction box (usually green or bare copper).
- Connect the ribbed or marked fixture wire to the white (neutral) wire from the junction box.
- Connect the smooth or unmarked fixture wire to the black (hot) wire from the junction box.
- Secure all connections with wire nuts and wrap with electrical tape for added safety.
- Secure Canopy: Carefully push the wires into the junction box and slide the canopy up the chain, securing it to the mounting bracket with the provided screws.
- Install Shades: Attach the black parchment shades to each of the six light arms. The shades use a clip attachment method.
- Install Bulbs: Insert six (6) E12 Candelabra base incandescent bulbs (not included) into the sockets. Do not exceed 60 watts per bulb.
- Restore Power: Once installation is complete, turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.
Operating Instructions
The Hudson Valley Lighting Jasper Chandelier is designed for simple operation via a standard wall switch (not included). Ensure the light bulbs are correctly installed and the power supply is active.
- Turning On/Off: Use the wall switch connected to the chandelier's circuit to turn the light fixture on or off.
- Bulb Replacement: To replace a bulb, first turn off the power at the wall switch and then at the circuit breaker. Allow bulbs to cool before touching. Unscrew the old bulb and screw in a new E12 Candelabra base incandescent bulb (max 60W).
Maintenance
Regular cleaning and proper maintenance will ensure the longevity and appearance of your chandelier.
- Cleaning: Turn off the power and allow the fixture to cool before cleaning. Wipe the metal parts with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, polishes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.
- Shade Care: The parchment shades can be gently dusted with a soft, dry cloth or a feather duster. Avoid using wet cloths or harsh chemicals on the shades.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the wiring and connections for any signs of wear or damage. If any issues are found, disconnect power and consult a qualified electrician.
