1. Introduction

2. Safety Information

• Battery Safety: Use only 2 AA alkaline batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries. Ensure correct polarity when inserting. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
• Environmental Conditions: Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or high humidity.
• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

• Eye Safety: Do not look directly into the radar emitter.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the handle of the Speedster V.
2. Slide or unclip the cover to open the compartment.
3. Insert two (2) AA alkaline batteries, ensuring the correct positive (+) and negative (-) polarity as indicated inside the compartment.
4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2 Attaching the Waist Holder

The dedicated waist holder provides convenient portability. Slide your belt through the loops on the back of the holder, then place the Speedster V into the holder.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

To power on the device, press and hold the red trigger button located on the handle. The display will illuminate. To power off, release the trigger button. The device will automatically power off after a short period of inactivity to conserve battery life.

5.2 Taking a Measurement

1. Point the front of the Speedster V directly at the moving object you wish to measure. For optimal accuracy, aim for a frontal measurement.
2. Press and hold the red trigger button. The device will continuously measure the speed of objects within its detection range.
3. The measured speed will be displayed on the LCD screen in kilometers per hour (KPH).
4. Release the trigger button to stop measuring. The last measured speed will remain on the display for a few seconds before the device powers off.

5.3 Detectable Direction

The Speedster V can detect the speed of objects that are both approaching the device and receding from it.

6. Measurement Tips

• Optimal Positioning: For sports like baseball, it is recommended to measure from the umpire's position for the most accurate ball speed readings.
• Angle of Measurement: The accuracy of the measurement can be affected by the angle between the device and the moving object. For highest accuracy (±1 km/h), aim for a direct frontal measurement. When there is an angle, the accuracy may be ±2 km/h or more.
• Distance: Be aware of the maximum detectable distances for different objects to ensure a successful reading.

7. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the device with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
• Storage: Store the Speedster V in its carrying case in a cool, dry place when not in use. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods.
• Lens Care: Keep the radar lens clean and free from smudges or debris to ensure accurate readings.

• No Power: Check battery installation. Ensure batteries are fresh and inserted with correct polarity.
• Inaccurate Readings: Ensure you are aiming directly at the object. Verify that the object is within the maximum detectable distance. Environmental factors like heavy rain or fog can affect radar performance.
• No Reading Displayed: Make sure the trigger button is pressed and held while the object is moving. Ensure there are no obstructions between the device and the target.
