Introduction
The Watts Premier Filter Pure UF-3 system is designed to provide continuous, on-demand supply of premium quality drinking water directly to your tap. This system operates effectively at low water pressures, does not require a separate water holding tank, does not alter the pH of the water, and does not require electricity. It incorporates a three-stage filtration process to ensure cleaner, healthier drinking water.
What's in the Box
The Watts Premier Pure UF-3 system includes the following components:
- Filter-Pure (UF-3) module (complete with pre-installed filters)
- Parts bag (containing various fittings and connectors)
- Faucet bag (containing the brushed nickel top-mount, twist faucet components)
- Instruction manual

Setup and Installation
Before beginning installation, ensure you have the necessary tools: a tubing cutter or sturdy shears, a variable speed drill with a 1/8-inch drill bit, an adjustable wrench, and a Phillips screwdriver. Installation must comply with state and local plumbing regulations. The system is intended to be installed on the cold water line ONLY. Do not install on hot water supply.
1. Faucet Installation
Some sinks may have a pre-drilled hole suitable for the drinking water faucet. If your sink or countertop does not, a 1/2-inch hole is required. For solid surface countertops like marble or porcelain, it is recommended to hire a licensed contractor to avoid potential damage.
- Determine the proper placement of the black locating washer. If the hole is 1/2-inch, the flat side must face up. If the hole is 1 1/4-inch to 1 1/2-inch, the raised side must face up.
- Place the small rubber washer on the threaded stem of the faucet, followed by the escutcheon plate and large rubber washer.
- Insert the threaded stem through the hole in the sink and let it rest on the sink top.
- From the underside of the sink, slide on the black locating washer, lock washer, and nut onto the threaded stem.
- Check the orientation of the faucet and tighten the nut securely.

2. Adapt-A-Valve Installation
The Adapt-A-Valve must be installed on the cold water side only. Installing it on the hot water side will damage the system and void any warranty.
- Turn off your cold water supply at the supply stop (typically the knob on the right-hand side under the sink). Place a small bowl underneath to catch any water runoff.
- Turn on your cold water faucet to drain and depressurize the plumbing system. Once the faucet stops dripping, close it.
- Disconnect the kitchen faucet hose from the cold water supply stop.
- If your supply stop uses a 3/8-inch connection, insert the white rubber washer into the washerless brass adapter.
- Insert the adapter and washer into the female threaded end of the Adapt-A-Valve and hand tighten.
- Attach the adapter with the black washer to the male threaded end of the Adapt-A-Valve and tighten with a wrench until secure, but do not overtighten.
- Attach this assembly to the male end of the cold water supply stop and tighten with a wrench.
- Connect the supply line from the faucet to the male threaded end of the Adapt-A-Valve. Use a crescent wrench and take care not to overtighten.
3. Tubing Connections
Ensure all tubing connections are pushed in all the way to the tube stop for a secure fit. If tubing is excessively long, you may trim it with a tubing cutter or shears, ensuring a straight cut. Before cutting, determine your desired mounting location and leave enough tubing length to dismount the system for maintenance.
- Locate the blue 1/4-inch tube. Remove a brass nut, plastic Delrin sleeve, and plastic insert from the faucet parts bag.
- Place the brass nut with the open end out on the blue tube. Then, take the plastic sleeve and slide it over the same tube.
- Push the plastic insert all the way into the end of the tube.
- Push this assembly into the base of the threaded stem until it stops.
- Slide the compression nut and plastic sleeve up until you can thread the nut onto the faucet stem. After hand tightening, use a wrench to securely tighten the compression nut while continuing to hold the tube in place.
- Locate the 1/4-inch green tube. Push the end of the tube with a 90-degree bend into the quick connect fitting located behind the sediment filter.
- Take the other end of the green tube and securely push it into the quick connect fitting on the Adapt-A-Valve.
- Take the bent end of the blue tube from the faucet and push into the quick connect fitting behind the ultrafiltration membrane.

4. Mounting the System
- Mount the system to your kitchen cabinet, allowing several inches of clearance below the filter for easy removal and replacement.
- To determine your mounting location, raise the system up 2 or 3 inches from the cabinet bottom and use a pencil to mark the eyelet locations in the bracket.
- Set the system aside and drill 1/8-inch pilot holes for the mounting screws.
- Using a Phillips head screwdriver or electric drill, install your mounting screws. Leave a 3/8-inch gap to allow the bracket to fit between the screw heads and the cabinet wall.
- Lift the system into place, ensuring it is securely seated on the mounting screws.
Operating Instructions
Once the system is completely connected, turn on your cold water supply at the angle stop. Then, turn your drinking water faucet handle to the open position to allow water to flow through your system.
You will need to run approximately 3 gallons of water to flush the system. This flushes out all the air and carbon fines from the system. You will know it is flushed out when the water turns from gray to clear. A measuring container may be used to help determine how much water has passed through the system. Close the faucet when finished.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance of your Watts Premier Pure UF-3 system. Filter life may vary based upon local water conditions or use patterns.
- Sediment Filter and LVOC Carbon Filter: We recommend replacing these filters every 6 months.
- UF Membrane: We recommend replacing the UF membrane every 12 months.
The unique swivel valve-in, push button release system allows for easy filter changes with no need to shut off the water source.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Low Water Flow | Clogged filters; Low incoming water pressure. | Replace filters; Check household water pressure. |
| Water Leaks | Loose fittings; Improperly seated tubing. | Tighten threaded fittings; Push quick connect tubing firmly into place. Re-check all connections frequently over the next 24 hours after installation or maintenance. |
| Unpleasant Taste/Odor | Expired carbon filter; Initial flushing incomplete. | Replace carbon filter; Flush system with 3 gallons of water until clear. |
| Cloudy Water | Air in the system; Carbon fines from new filters. | This is normal for new systems. Flush system with 3 gallons of water until clear. |
