1. Introduction

The Powerplus PP-LYNX is a compact and versatile portable radio designed for various situations, including everyday use and emergencies. Component Overview:

• Volume/Power Knob (VOL/OFF): Located on the left side. Rotate to turn the radio on/off and adjust volume.

4. Setup

4.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the internal rechargeable battery. Connect the supplied USB cable to the DC (5V) IN port on the radio and plug the other end into a USB power adapter (not supplied) or a computer's USB port. A full charge via USB typically takes 6 to 8 hours.

4.2 Battery Information

The Powerplus PP-LYNX is equipped with an internal rechargeable battery pack (consisting of 3 AAA batteries). This battery is designed for long-term use and is charged by the various power sources. While the battery pack is replaceable, it is an internal component and should only be accessed by qualified personnel if replacement is necessary.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control

1. To turn the radio ON, rotate the VOL/OFF knob (left side) clockwise.
2. Adjust the volume by continuing to rotate the VOL/OFF knob.
3. To turn the radio OFF, rotate the VOL/OFF knob counter-clockwise until it clicks.

5.2 Radio Operation

1. Extend the telescopic antenna for optimal reception.
2. Press the BAND button to switch between FM and AM frequencies. The selected band will be shown on the digital display.
3. Rotate the TUNING knob (right side) to search for desired radio stations. The frequency will be displayed.
4. Adjust the antenna position for clearer reception if needed.

5.3 Flashlight Operation

Press the TORCH button located on the top panel to turn the 3-LED flashlight on or off.

5.4 Charging the Radio

The radio can be charged using three methods:

• Dynamo Hand Crank: Unfold the hand crank on the rear of the radio. Rotate the crank clockwise or counter-clockwise at a steady pace for approximately 1-2 minutes to gain 18-27 minutes of radio playtime or 27-36 minutes of flashlight use.
• Solar Panel: Place the radio with the solar panel facing direct sunlight. Ensure no obstructions block the panel. One hour of solar charging provides approximately 20-30 minutes of radio playtime or 23-32 minutes of flashlight use. Full solar charging can take 35-42 hours.
• USB Charging: Connect the supplied USB cable to the DC (5V) IN port and a USB power source. This is the fastest method for a full charge (6-8 hours).

5.5 Charging External Devices (Mobile Phone)

The radio can provide emergency power to charge compatible mobile phones or other small USB devices.

1. Connect your mobile phone's charging cable (not supplied, ensure it's compatible with the USB-A OUT port) to the DC (5V) OUT port on the radio.
2. Begin rotating the dynamo hand crank. Continuous cranking is required to supply power to the connected device. One minute of cranking can provide 4-15 minutes of mobile phone talk time.
3. Note: This function is intended for emergency charging to provide a minimal power boost, not a full charge.

5.6 Setting Clock and Alarm

1. To Set Time: Press the TIME.SET button. Use the HOUR and MINUTE buttons to adjust the time. Press TIME.SET again to confirm.
2. To Set Alarm: Press the AL.SET button. Use the HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set the desired alarm time. Press AL.SET again to confirm.
3. To Activate/Deactivate Alarm: Press the AL.ON/OFF button. An alarm icon will appear on the display when activated.

6. Maintenance

• Clean the radio with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Keep the solar panel clean and free of dust for efficient charging.
• Store the radio in a cool, dry place when not in use.
• To prolong battery life, avoid completely discharging the battery frequently. Recharge the radio periodically, even if not in use.

7. Troubleshooting

• Radio does not turn on / Flashlight does not work: The battery may be depleted. Charge the radio using the dynamo crank, solar panel, or USB.
• Poor radio reception: Fully extend the telescopic antenna. Try repositioning the radio or the antenna for better signal. Ensure you are within broadcast range.
• Mobile phone not charging: Ensure the radio has sufficient charge. Verify that your phone's charging cable is correctly connected to the DC (5V) OUT port. Continuously crank the dynamo for power supply. Note that some phones may require more power than the radio can provide for effective charging.
• No battery level indicator: The Powerplus PP-LYNX does not feature a dedicated battery level indicator. Users should estimate remaining charge based on recent usage and charging history. It is advisable to charge the unit regularly, especially before critical use.
