Introduction

The Stack-On GCB-908 8-Gun Steel Security Cabinet is designed to provide secure storage for firearms. This cabinet is a California approved firearms safety device, meeting the requirements of California Penal Code Section 12088 and associated regulations. It features a robust 3-point locking system with a key-coded, double-bitted lock for enhanced security. The cabinet is capable of holding up to 8 rifles or shotguns, with a maximum height of 52 inches. A removable shelf is included, strategically placed at the front to allow for the storage of longer guns along the back wall. The interior also includes a foam-padded bottom to protect firearms.

Setup and Installation

Unboxing

• Carefully remove the cabinet from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage.

Mounting the Cabinet

For maximum security, it is highly recommended to secure the cabinet to a floor or wall using the pre-drilled mounting holes and included fastening hardware.

• Choose a discreet and secure location for the cabinet.
• Position the cabinet against the desired wall or in the chosen floor location.
• Mark the locations for the pre-drilled mounting holes on the wall or floor.
• Drill pilot holes as necessary, ensuring they are appropriate for the fastening hardware.
• Secure the cabinet using the provided bolts or suitable alternatives (e.g., heavy-duty lag screws for wall studs). Ensure all fasteners are tightened securely.

Operation

Locking and Unlocking

• To unlock: Insert the key into the lock and turn it counter-clockwise until the locking mechanism disengages.
• To lock: Close the cabinet door firmly. Insert the key and turn it clockwise until the locking mechanism engages. Remove the key.

Storing Firearms

• Ensure all firearms are unloaded before placing them in the cabinet.
• Utilize the patented contoured non-marring barrel rests to securely hold rifles and shotguns upright.
• Place longer firearms along the back wall of the cabinet, utilizing the space created by the front-positioned removable shelf.
• Use the removable top shelf for storing smaller items such as ammunition, handguns, or accessories.
• The foam-padded bottom helps protect the buttstocks of your firearms from scratches.

Maintenance

• Periodically wipe down the exterior and interior of the cabinet with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

• Check the security of the mounting bolts periodically and tighten if loose.

Troubleshooting

Door Not Opening

• Key not turning: Ensure the key is fully inserted and oriented correctly. Do not force the key.
• Obstruction inside: If the key turns but the door does not open, an item inside the cabinet might be obstructing the locking mechanism or the door itself. Gently try to shift the cabinet or apply slight pressure to the door while turning the key.
• Lock mechanism issue: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, the internal locking mechanism may be damaged. Contact customer support for assistance.

Cabinet Instability

• Ensure the cabinet is placed on a level surface.
• Verify that all mounting bolts are securely fastened to the floor or wall.
