4. Setup and Before First Use

4.1 Before First Use

  • Unpack the appliance and remove all packaging materials.
  • Wipe the cooking plates with a damp cloth or sponge. Do not immerse the appliance in water.
  • Dry thoroughly.
  • For the first use, it is recommended to lightly grease the cooking plates with a small amount of cooking oil or butter. This helps condition the non-stick surface.
  • Plug the appliance into a standard electrical outlet. The indicator light will illuminate, signaling that the unit is preheating.
  • Allow the appliance to preheat for approximately 5 minutes. A slight odor or smoke may be present during the first use; this is normal and will dissipate.
  • Unplug and allow to cool completely before wiping clean again.

4.2 Placement

Place the Over Easy Express on a stable, heat-resistant, and dry surface. Ensure there is adequate space around the appliance for ventilation and to prevent heat damage to surrounding surfaces.

5. Operating Instructions

Always ensure the appliance is preheated before adding food.

5.1 General Operation

  1. Plug the appliance into a 120V AC electrical outlet. The indicator light will turn on, indicating the unit is heating.
  2. Allow the appliance to preheat for 3-5 minutes until the indicator light turns off, or remains steadily on (depending on model, consult specific light behavior if available). For this model, assume it stays on during heating.
  3. Once preheated, carefully open the appliance using the handle.
  4. Pour or place your food onto the bottom cooking plate. Do not overfill.
  5. Gently close the top housing. The patented rolling hinge will adjust to the thickness of your food.
  6. Cook for the recommended time (see specific food instructions below).
  7. Carefully open the appliance and remove the cooked food using a heat-resistant, non-metallic utensil to avoid scratching the non-stick surface.
  8. Unplug the appliance from the outlet when finished cooking.

5.2 Making Pancakes (Makes 2 x 5.5" Pancakes)

  • Prepare your favorite pancake batter.
  • Preheat the Over Easy Express as described in "General Operation".
  • Lightly grease the cooking plates if desired, though the non-stick surface typically does not require it after initial conditioning.
  • Pour approximately 1/4 to 1/3 cup of batter into each cooking well on the bottom plate. Do not overfill, as the batter will expand.
  • Close the lid.
  • Cook for 3-5 minutes, or until pancakes are golden brown and cooked through. Cooking time may vary based on batter consistency and desired crispness.
  • Carefully remove pancakes with a non-metallic spatula.

5.3 Making Omelettes or Eggs

  • Whisk 1-2 eggs per well with a splash of milk or water, and season to taste. Add any desired fillings (cheese, vegetables, cooked meats).
  • Preheat the Over Easy Express.
  • Lightly grease the cooking plates if desired.
  • Pour the egg mixture into each cooking well.
  • Close the lid.
  • Cook for 2-4 minutes for soft omelettes/eggs, or longer for firmer results. Cooking time depends on egg quantity and desired doneness.
  • Carefully remove with a non-metallic spatula.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Proper cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity of your appliance.

  1. Always unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Wipe the exterior surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may damage the finish.
  3. For the cooking plates, gently wipe with a damp cloth or sponge. For stubborn residue, dampen a cloth with warm, soapy water and wipe. Avoid using metal utensils or abrasive materials that can scratch the non-stick coating.
  4. Do not immerse the appliance, power cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
  5. Ensure all parts are thoroughly dry before storing or using again.
  6. Store the appliance in a clean, dry place.
