4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Filling the Cooker

  • Add your ingredients and the required amount of water to the cooker body.
  • Ensure the total volume of contents (food + water) does not exceed two-thirds of the cooker's capacity (approximately 1.4 liters for this 2-liter model). For foods that expand, do not exceed half capacity (approximately 1 liter).

4.2 Closing the Lid

  1. Align the lid with the cooker body.
  2. Press down firmly on the lid and rotate the handle until it locks securely into place. The handles should align.

4.3 Cooking Process

  1. Place the cooker on a suitable heat source (Gas Stovetop Compatible).
  2. Heat on high until steam begins to escape steadily from the vent tube and the weight valve starts to whistle.
  3. Reduce heat to maintain a steady pressure (whistling at regular intervals). Cook for the time specified in your recipe.

4.4 Pressure Release and Opening

  • Natural Release: Remove the cooker from the heat and allow it to cool down naturally until all pressure is released. The Metallic Safety Plug will drop down when pressure is gone.
  • Quick Release (for certain foods): Carefully place the cooker under cold running water, avoiding the vent tube, until all pressure is released.
  • Once all pressure is released, gently twist the lid handle to unlock and open.

5. Maintenance and Care

5.1 Cleaning

  • Wash the cooker body and lid with warm soapy water after each use. Use a non-abrasive sponge or cloth.
  • Clean the gasket, weight valve, and vent tube regularly to prevent blockages.
  • The cooker is not dishwasher safe. Hand washing is recommended.

5.2 Gasket Replacement

The gasket is a consumable part and should be replaced periodically (approximately every 12-18 months, or if signs of wear, cracking, or leakage appear). Use only genuine Prestige replacement gaskets.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Lid not closing properly: Check if the gasket is correctly seated and not twisted. Ensure the cooker rim and lid are clean.
  • No pressure build-up/Excessive steam leakage: Verify the gasket is in good condition and correctly placed. Check if the weight valve is properly seated and the vent tube is clear. Ensure the lid is securely locked.
  • Food sticking to the bottom: Ensure adequate liquid is used and heat is not excessively high. The thick base helps prevent sticking.
