1. Introduction

The ASUS VH232H is a 23-inch Full-HD LCD monitor designed for personal entertainment and computing. 2. Safety Information

4. Setup

4.1 Assembling the Monitor Stand

  1. Carefully place the monitor face down on a soft, clean cloth to prevent scratches.
  2. Attach the stand neck to the back of the monitor, aligning the tabs and pushing firmly until it clicks into place.
  3. Attach the stand base to the bottom of the stand neck. Secure it with the captive screw located on the underside of the base.
  4. Gently lift the monitor and place it upright on a stable surface.

4.2 Connecting Your Monitor

The ASUS VH232H offers multiple input options. Choose the appropriate cable for your device.

  • HDMI Connection: Connect one end of an HDMI cable to the HDMI port on your computer's graphics card and the other end to the HDMI port on the monitor. HDMI transmits both video and audio.
  • DVI Connection: Connect one end of a DVI cable to the DVI port on your computer's graphics card and the other end to the DVI port on the monitor. DVI transmits video only.
  • VGA Connection: Connect one end of a VGA cable to the VGA port on your computer's graphics card and the other end to the VGA port on the monitor. VGA transmits video only.
  • Audio Connection: If using DVI or VGA, connect the included audio cable from your computer's audio output jack to the 'Audio In' port on the monitor to utilize the integrated speakers.
  • Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the monitor's power input, then plug the other end into a grounded electrical outlet.

4.3 Powering On

  1. Ensure all cables are securely connected.
  2. Press the power button on the front of the monitor. The power indicator light will illuminate.
  3. Turn on your computer. The monitor should automatically detect the input signal.

5. Operating the Monitor

5.1 Control Buttons

The control buttons are located on the lower right bezel of the monitor.

  • Power Button: Turns the monitor on or off.
  • Menu Button: Activates the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu or enters a sub-menu.
  • Input Select Button: Cycles through available video input sources (HDMI, DVI, VGA).
  • Splendid Button: Quick access to ASUS Splendid Video Intelligence Technology modes.
  • Brightness/Volume Buttons: Adjust brightness or navigate OSD menu options.

5.2 On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu

The OSD menu allows you to adjust various display settings.

  1. Press the Menu button to activate the OSD menu.
  2. Use the navigation buttons (often marked with arrows or similar to brightness/volume controls) to move through the menu options.
  3. Press the Menu button again (or a dedicated 'Select' button) to enter a sub-menu or confirm a selection.
  4. Use the navigation buttons to adjust values or select options.
  5. Press the Exit button (often the power button or a dedicated 'Exit' button) to close the OSD menu.

Key OSD Settings:

  • Splendid: Select from various preset display modes (e.g., Standard, Game, Scenery, Night View, Theater, sRGB) optimized for different content types.
  • Color: Adjust Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Color Temperature, and Skin Tone.
  • Image: Fine-tune Sharpness, Aspect Ratio Control, ASCR (ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio), and Trace Free.
  • Input Select: Manually switch between HDMI, DVI, and VGA inputs.
  • System Setup: Adjust OSD settings (language, position, timeout), ECO mode, and reset to factory defaults.

5.3 Integrated Speakers

The monitor includes built-in 2W stereo speakers. For optimal audio quality, especially for music or gaming, external speakers are recommended. Adjust the volume through the OSD menu or your computer's sound settings.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Monitor

  • Screen: Gently wipe the screen with a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn marks, lightly dampen the cloth with water or a non-ammonia, non-alcohol based screen cleaner. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the screen.
