3.3 Wiring Connections
Proper wiring is crucial for system functionality. Refer to the detailed wiring diagrams provided in the separate installation guide for specific connections.
- Master to Door Station: Use Aiphone 871802 wire (sold separately). Maximum distance is 165 ft. using 22 AWG wire, or 330 ft. using 18 AWG wire.
- Master to Sub-Master Station (Optional): Use Aiphone 871804 wire (sold separately).
- Power Supply: Connect the included Aiphone PS-1820UL power supply (18VDC) to the master station.
- Door Release (Optional): The door-release button works with an electric strike (sold separately). The contact rating is 24VAC or 24 VDC at 500mA. For larger contact ratings, use Aiphone RY-18L (sold separately). If using two door stations, the Aiphone RY-3DL door-release adapter (sold separately) is required to select which door to release.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Receiving a Call from the Door Station
- When a visitor presses the call button on the door station, the master station will chime and display a live video feed from the 1/4" color camera. The white LED on the door station illuminates the visitor area in low-light conditions.
- To answer the call, press and hold the answering button for push-to-talk communication, or tap the answering button for hands-free communication.
- To end the call, press the answering button again.
4.2 Door Release Function
If an electric strike is connected (sold separately), press the door-release button on the master station to remotely unlock the entrance for the visitor. If two door stations are installed with the RY-3DL adapter, you can select which door to release.
4.3 Image Recording
The master station's internal memory allows for image recording:
- Automated Recording: Images can be automatically captured whenever a call is received from the door station.
- Manual Recording: Press the record button on the master station to manually capture images.
- Up to 50 images can be recorded at a time, with each image containing 8 frames captured over 8 seconds.
- Up to 10 images can be saved to the station's memory.
- Recorded images are automatically labeled with the date and time.
4.4 Voice Memos
The master station can store voice recordings:
- Up to two 10-second voice recordings can be replayed through the door station for visitors when personal communication is not possible or preferred.
- Up to three 10-second voice memos can be stored for use by master station operators for reminders and notes.
4.5 Communicating with Sub-Master Stations (Optional)
If sub-master stations are connected, press the call button on the master station to initiate audio communication with up to two sub-master stations.
4.6 Monitoring the Door Station
Press the monitor button on the master station at any time to listen and receive video feed from the door station without a visitor initiating a call.
4.7 Adjusting Volume
The chime and audio volume on the master station are adjustable to suit your preference.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Aiphone intercom system.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the surfaces of the master station and door station. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. For the door station's polycarbonate lens cover, use a mild soap solution if necessary, and wipe gently.
- Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
- Environmental Protection: Ensure the door station's flush mount remains sealed to prevent water ingress.
