4.1 Driver Installation

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Reading a Smart Card

  1. Ensure the SCR3310 is connected to your computer and the green status LED is illuminated.
  2. Insert the smart card into the reader with the IC chip facing up.
  3. Open the application that requires smart card access (e.g., e-tax software, banking application).
  4. Follow the application's instructions to read or write data to the card. The reader will automatically communicate with the card.

5.2 Status Indicator

  • Solid Green: The device is powered on and ready for card interaction.

6.1 Cleaning

  • Device not recognized: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the reader and the computer. Try a different USB port. Verify that the correct drivers are installed.
  • Card not detected: Ensure the smart card is inserted correctly with the IC chip facing up. Remove and reinsert the card. Check if the card itself is damaged.
  • Driver installation issues: Confirm you have downloaded the drivers from the official IDENTIV support website. Ensure your operating system is supported (refer to specifications). For Mac OS 10.8 and later, specific driver compatibility issues have been reported; consult IDENTIV support for the latest information.
  • Intermittent card detection (especially on Linux systems with internal USB headers): Some internal USB pin header connections, particularly on older Linux systems (e.g., CentOS 6), may experience instability leading to intermittent card detection. If this occurs, try connecting the reader to an external USB port for improved stability.
  • e-TAX compatibility issues: Specific e-TAX system compatibility problems have been noted. Ensure your e-TAX software is up-to-date and consult e-TAX support resources for specific requirements related to smart card readers.
