Setup
1. Charging the Battery
The camera uses an NP-45 rechargeable Li-ion battery. Before first use, fully charge the battery using the supplied charger.
- Insert the battery into the charger with the correct orientation.
- Plug the charger into a power outlet. The charging indicator light will illuminate.
- Charging is complete when the indicator light changes or turns off (refer to charger specific instructions for exact behavior).
2. Inserting the Battery and Memory Card
The FinePix J28 supports SD and SDHC memory cards. A memory card is not included with the camera.
- Open the battery/card compartment cover on the bottom of the camera.
- Insert the charged NP-45 battery into the battery slot, ensuring the correct polarity.
- Insert the SD/SDHC memory card into the card slot until it clicks into place. Ensure the card is facing the correct way.
- Close the compartment cover securely.

1. Powering On/Off
Press the ON/OFF button located on the top of the camera to power it on or off.

To take a picture:
- Frame your shot using the LCD monitor.
- Press the shutter button halfway down to focus. The camera will beep and focus indicators will appear.
- Press the shutter button all the way down to take the picture.
3. Zooming
Use the zoom lever (W/T) located on the top-right of the camera's rear to adjust the optical zoom. Push towards 'T' for telephoto (zoom in) and 'W' for wide-angle (zoom out).

5. Playback
Press the PLAY button (usually indicated by a triangle icon) to enter playback mode. Use the directional buttons to navigate through your photos and videos. The camera also features a micro thumbnail view for quick browsing of up to 100 pictures.
