Setup
Unpacking and Placement
- Carefully remove the safe from its packaging. Retain packaging materials for future transport or storage if needed.
- Inspect the safe for any signs of damage. If damage is found, contact customer support immediately.
- Place the safe on a flat, stable surface. The safe is designed for freestanding or tabletop mounting.
- Ensure the safe is placed in a location that is dry and away from extreme temperatures or direct sunlight. Note that this safe is not water resistant or fire safe.
Battery Installation
The electronic lock requires batteries for operation. The safe operates on 120 Volts, but the keypad itself uses internal batteries (typically AA, though not specified, common for such devices). Locate the battery compartment, usually on the inside of the door or behind the keypad. Insert the required batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
Initial Opening
Your safe may come with an initial factory code or override keys. Use the provided method to open the safe for the first time. If using a factory code, enter it on the keypad and turn the handle to open the door.
Operating Instructions
Setting Your Personal Code
- With the safe door open, locate the reset button on the inside of the door (often a small red or green button).
- Press the reset button. The indicator light on the keypad should illuminate, indicating it's ready to accept a new code.
- Enter your desired personal code (up to 8 digits) on the keypad. Choose a code that is easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess.
- Confirm the code by pressing the '#' or 'B' button (refer to your specific keypad layout, often 'B' as per OCR). The indicator light should flash or beep to confirm successful code entry.
- Test the new code with the door open before closing it. If the code works, you can proceed to close the safe.
Opening the Safe
- Enter your personal code on the electronic keypad.
- Press the '#' or 'B' button to confirm the code.
- Within 5 seconds of successful code entry, turn the handle clockwise (or counter-clockwise, depending on the model) to open the door.
Closing and Locking the Safe
- Close the safe door firmly.
- Turn the handle counter-clockwise (or clockwise) to engage the locking bolts. The safe is now securely locked.
Using the Override Key (if applicable)
In case of forgotten code or battery failure, an override key may be provided. Locate the keyhole (often concealed behind a removable plate on the keypad). Insert the key and turn it while simultaneously turning the handle to open the safe. Keep override keys in a secure location away from the safe.
Maintenance
Battery Replacement
- When the batteries are low, the keypad may emit a warning signal (e.g., a series of beeps or a specific light pattern). Replace all batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation.
- Use only new, high-quality alkaline batteries of the specified type.
- Refer to the "Battery Installation" section for replacement steps.
Cleaning
- Clean the exterior of the safe with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
- Do not spray cleaning solutions directly onto the keypad or electronic components.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Safe does not open with code. | Incorrect code entered; batteries are low or dead; handle not turned within time limit. | Re-enter code carefully. Replace batteries. Ensure handle is turned immediately after correct code entry. Use override key if necessary. |
| Keypad is unresponsive. | Dead batteries; loose battery connection. | Replace batteries. Check battery compartment for secure connection. |
| Alarm sounds (Visual Alarm). | Multiple incorrect code entries; tampering attempt. | Wait for the alarm to reset (usually after a few minutes). Enter the correct code. |
| Door does not close properly. | Obstruction in the door frame; locking bolts not fully retracted. | Check for any items blocking the door. Ensure the handle is in the open position before attempting to close. |
