- Ensure the safe is placed on a stable, level surface.
- When moving the safe, exercise caution due to its weight (117 lbs). Use appropriate lifting techniques or equipment.

4.3 Securing the Safe (Bolt-Down Kit)
For enhanced security, the safe can be bolted to the floor using the included bolt-down kit. This prevents unauthorized removal of the safe.
- Choose a suitable location for the safe, ensuring it is level and stable.
- Open the safe door and locate the pre-drilled bolt holes on the bottom interior surface.
- Mark the drilling points on the floor through the safe's bolt holes.
- Move the safe and drill appropriate pilot holes in the floor using a drill bit suitable for your flooring material (concrete, wood, etc.). Consult a professional if unsure.
- Position the safe over the drilled holes.
- Insert the provided bolts through the safe's bottom holes and into the floor. Use washers as needed.
- Tighten the bolts securely. Do not overtighten.

The Olympian Model 1223 safe utilizes a dual control dial and key lock system. Both mechanisms must be correctly operated to open the safe.

5.1 Opening the Safe
- Dial Combination: Turn the combination dial to the correct sequence. Refer to the separate combination card provided with your safe for the factory-set combination. If you have changed the combination, use your personal code.
- Insert Key: Insert one of the provided keys into the key lock on the safe door.
- Turn Key: Turn the key to the open position (typically clockwise).
- Open Door: While holding the key in the open position, gently pull the safe door open.
Note: For secure locations where the combination is not frequently changed, you may keep the combination dialed in and use only the key for daily access. However, for maximum security, always scramble the dial after closing the safe.
5.2 Closing and Locking the Safe
- Close the safe door firmly.
- Turn the key in the key lock to the locked position (typically counter-clockwise) and remove the key.
- Rotate the combination dial several times in either direction to scramble the combination. This ensures the safe cannot be opened by simply turning the key.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the safe with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Lock Mechanism: The lock mechanism is designed for long-term reliability and generally requires no lubrication. If you experience any issues, contact customer support.
- Door Seal: Periodically inspect the door seal for any signs of wear or damage to ensure continued fire and water resistance.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1 Safe Will Not Open
- Incorrect Combination: Ensure you are entering the correct combination precisely. Each turn and stop must be accurate.
- Key Not Fully Turned: Verify the key is fully inserted and turned to the open position.
- Door Jammed: Apply gentle pressure to the door while attempting to open if it feels stuck.
- Lost Combination/Keys: Contact PHOENIX SAFE customer support for assistance. Proof of ownership will be required.
7.2 Safe Door Does Not Close Properly
- Obstruction: Check for any items inside the safe that might be preventing the door from closing completely.
- Misalignment: Ensure the safe is on a level surface. If bolted down, check that the bolts are not causing distortion.
