Operating Instructions
Setting the Mechanical Timer
The mechanical timer allows you to automate the ON/OFF cycles for the four timer-controlled outlets. The timer operates on a 24-hour cycle.
- Set Current Time: Rotate the entire timer dial clockwise until the current time aligns with the arrow indicator on the timer face. The dial is marked with hours (1-12 AM/PM).
- Program ON/OFF Times: The timer dial has small gray segments around its circumference. Each segment represents 30 minutes.
- To set a period for the outlets to be ON, push the corresponding gray segments down towards the center of the dial.
- To set a period for the outlets to be OFF, leave the corresponding gray segments in the up position.
- Manual Override: The timer dial has a central switch that allows you to manually turn the timer-controlled outlets ON or OFF, overriding the programmed settings. This is useful if you need to temporarily power an appliance outside of its scheduled time.
You can set up to 48 ON/OFF programs per day. The settings will repeat daily.
Using the Switch-Controlled Outlets
The four outlets labeled "SWITCH CONTROL" are always active when the power strip is plugged in, regardless of the timer settings. These are suitable for devices that do not require scheduled power cycles.
Circuit Breaker
The power strip is equipped with a built-in circuit breaker. If the total power draw from all connected devices exceeds 1875 Watts (15 Amps), the circuit breaker will trip to prevent overload and protect your devices. To reset the circuit breaker, unplug some devices, then press the red reset button located on the power strip.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Disconnect the power strip from the wall outlet before cleaning. Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
- Outlet Covers: The rotating safety covers on each outlet help prevent dust and debris from entering unused outlets and provide child prevention. Ensure these covers are properly closed when outlets are not in use.
- Cord Inspection: Periodically inspect the power cord for any signs of damage, fraying, or kinks. If damage is found, discontinue use immediately.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power to any outlets. | Power strip not plugged in; wall outlet not active; circuit breaker tripped. | Ensure power strip is fully plugged into a live wall outlet. Check household circuit breaker. Press the reset button on the power strip. |
| Timer-controlled outlets not turning ON/OFF as programmed. | Timer not set to current time; ON/OFF pins not correctly set; manual override engaged. | Verify the current time is aligned with the indicator. Ensure gray segments are pushed down for ON times and up for OFF times. Check if the manual override switch is in the correct position. |
| Timer dial is not moving. | Timer motor issue; debris obstructing movement. | Ensure the power strip is receiving power. Gently check for any visible obstructions around the dial. If the issue persists, the unit may require replacement. |
| Circuit breaker trips frequently. | Overload; too many high-wattage devices connected. | Reduce the total wattage of devices plugged into the power strip. Ensure total load does not exceed 1875 Watts. |
