Setup

1. Unpacking

Carefully remove the safe from its packaging. Inspect the safe for any signs of damage. If damaged, contact customer support immediately.

2. Battery Installation

The electronic lock requires batteries to operate. Locate the battery compartment, typically on the inside of the safe door or behind the keypad. Insert the required number of fresh alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3. Mounting the Safe

For optimal security, it is highly recommended to mount the safe to a wall, floor, or other secure surface. The PS-508 safe includes pre-drilled mounting holes on the back and bottom. Use the provided mounting hardware or appropriate fasteners for your specific installation surface.

• Wall Mounting: Position the safe against a wall, ideally aligning with wall studs for maximum stability. Mark the drilling points through the pre-drilled holes. Drill pilot holes and secure the safe using appropriate lag screws or bolts. Note: For wall mounting, larger bolts than those provided may be necessary for enhanced security.
• Floor Mounting: Place the safe in the desired location. Mark the drilling points through the pre-drilled holes on the bottom of the safe. Drill pilot holes into the floor and secure the safe using appropriate anchor bolts.

4. Initial Code Setting

Upon first use, you will need to set your personal access code. Refer to the specific instructions provided with your electronic lock for the exact procedure. Typically, this involves pressing a reset button (often inside the safe door), entering a new code, and confirming it. Choose a code that is easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess.

Operating the Safe

1. Enter your personal access code on the electronic keypad.
2. The green indicator light should illuminate, and you may hear a beep.
3. Within a few seconds, turn the handle clockwise (or counter-clockwise, depending on the model) to open the safe door.
4. If an incorrect code is entered, the red indicator light will flash, and the safe will remain locked. After multiple incorrect attempts, the safe may enter a lockout period.

2. Opening the Safe with Override Key

In case of battery failure, forgotten code, or electronic lock malfunction, you can use the override key:

1. Locate the keyhole cover on the electronic keypad.
2. Remove the cover to expose the keyhole.
3. Insert one of the provided override keys into the keyhole and turn it to unlock the safe.
4. While the key is turned, rotate the handle to open the safe door.

3. Changing the User Code

To change your personal access code:

1. Open the safe door.
2. Locate the reset button on the inside of the safe door or near the battery compartment. Press it.
3. While the indicator light is on (usually yellow or green), enter your new desired code (typically 3-8 digits).
4. Press the '#' or '*' button (refer to your specific lock's instructions) to confirm the new code.
5. Test the new code with the door open before closing it to ensure it works correctly.

4. Low Battery Warning

When the batteries are low, the electronic lock may indicate this with a specific light pattern (e.g., a red light flashing after opening) or a series of beeps. Replace the batteries promptly to avoid being locked out.
